Mukbang or 먹방 in moonspeak is the act of eating massive amounts of food on stream. The mukbang is one of many aspects of South Korean culture that has been exported to the west in recent times alongside K-Pop and Cho Seung Hui. The practice originated sometime around 2008 on the Korean Twitch precursor AfreecaTV. Desperate to keep ronery middle aged wagecuck salarymen from killing themselves, the South Korean government implanted cute girls streaming themselves eating. This way, the depressed masses with nothing to live for could feel like they have someone to eat with, allowing them to maintain the lowest amount of seratonin necessary to not fling themselves off of buildings.
