I want people to know before pride month starts that we still have a long ways to go to achieve happiness... I've been a victim of violence even as of recent, and I'm still struggling with loving myself as an individual who is gay. I struggle to be proud of who I am despite being gay, and it's thanks to the many horrific things people have told me, and also done to me. The government of the United States allows their LGBT victims to suffer in silence, and be treated worse than criminals, psychopaths, and even (dare I say it) rapists. I cannot tell you enough: This is utterly unacceptable. People here still believe that Gay men and women deserve to die and be punished with torture, and in many countries, it may be even worse. There may even be racial and religious bias thanks to their prejudices against us. Many families still kick their children to the streets for being gay to this day.
I don't mean to depress you when making this post. I don't mean to shock people. But, I do want you people to know how I feel when pride month starts. I feel that my hometown needs adjustment to modern times. I feel that people need to correct their thinking when it comes to bigotry and prejudice. As MLK wished for his family and his many followers, I wish the same thing: My fellow LGBT community to be safe and free from discrimination. Gay men not having to worry about being "blackfaced" (my term for being stereotyped in a mocking or derogatory manner) by media. Gay people not being taunted by far right individuals for being inferior.
In simple terms, I want one thing and one thing only for us, and that is to be treated like a regular, normal, decent human being.
It is sad and terrible that I have to even make this post. But... We need to get this message across to people as Gay individuals. We don't deserve to be treated this way, and I cannot emphasize that enough.
If you disagree, that's okay. I know many people have different experiences, and that most people will live a happier life. But, my experience was haunting to this day, which is why I make this post.

|A user I know (Won't state names) really pissed me off rather recently with their disturbingly homophobic speech and the fact that they made a journal stating that a suicidal person was going to hell. It pissed me the fuck off, especially as someone who suffers from a depressive disorder myself, AND someone who is gay/bisexual. That being said, I cannot believe someone can use religion as an excuse to be such a tasteless and bitter person. I don't want to deal with people like this, especially since I myself suffer from bad Religious Trauma Syndrome (Was bullied and hurt for years simply because I was non religious/gay). I don't mean to sound like the devil or something when I say this, but when someone cares more about themself and making some pastor's political rhetoric fit their life than their own friends, then they need to fucking get their priorities straight. I'm not a fucking demon. I'm a depressed, angry, and traumatized individual who lost respect for religion ever since I was abused by peers as a child. I know this is the internet, and with the internet comes trolls, but... I genuinely don't know if this is either a troll or yet another wingnut who hates gay people. I'm fixing to talk to my psychiatrist today about my mood swings, and strange behaviors that I've had over the last few weeks. I have a major feeling that I'm Bipolar. Why I say that is due to the mood swings and changes in behaviors that I have. Usually they go from being overwhelmingly excited and happy (Mania) to a crash into the void of depression (Depression). I always thought I had MDD (Major Depressive Disorder, or simply uni-polar depression), but considering that on occasion I have extreme signs of happiness, euphoria, and (pardon this) sexual urges, it's starting to raise some concerns. My parents usually notice when I'm having a manic episode, as I usually act like a kid high off of sugar (before you complain that I'm a child using FA, I'm 18 years of age. Please don't). When I'm depressed, they notice that I feel dread and don't look okay. I'm fixing to talk to my psychiatrist about this, as I do take medicine for depression, but feel the need to emphasize the fact that my mood is pretty much everywhere. I don't want to alarm people with this, as people would stigmatize mental illness as attention whoring (which it definitely isn't. I actually do experience these mood swings, and it sure as hell is NOT fun).
I do have a doctor, and am starting to take therapy for this as well. I need as much help and support as I can. If you read this, thanks for understanding. Feel free to comment or talk to me via discord (it's on my front page) about it. Thank you all.
