Dead Internet Theory
Dead Internet Theory is the latest thing ruining the internet. Basically, it is a cyber-dystopia where everything is fake and gay because 90% of internet traffic is performed by bots and everything is shoved into your face by an algorithm instead forcing you to make human connections through it. The Internet has already died long ago, and we are living in its carcass. You, wandering anon, may take recluse knowing this article was written by fellow humans, on your arduous and largely uncertain journey to the Last Page of the Internet, and not be fooled by false personalities and Demiurgic engagement traps along the way.
What Killed The Internets?
Most "people" you talk to online aren't even real people anymore. The entire internet is serviced by bots that that exist to scam you, bait engagement, advertise corporate shit you don't need or shill political agendas. People don't even look for things on their own anymore. They have fallen into a habitual habit of allowing social media algorithms to spoon-feed them whatever they want... and they eat it right up too—like an ipad baby watching "Elsagate" shit on repeat. Social Media sites have even taken to deploying AI chatbots just to prevent people from engaging with real people and promoting AI-generated content in order to crush the passion of human creation. You can't even submit a job application these days without it being automatically reviewed (and denied) by an artificial intelligence. In a way, this so-called "Wild West" of the Internets is truly dead, heavily corporatized and super-duper lame. Furthermore, a lot of the internet literally is dying as a result of link rot and certain services going offline. They say "The Internet never forgets", but somebody forgot to ARCHIVE FUCKING EVERYTHING so now it's all lost to time and irrelevancy. The Internets isn't even a series of tubes anymore; it's just one giant funnel.
Alive Internet Theory
Alive Internet Theory is when you suddenly realize that there are real people on the internet that you are interacting with. In some parts of the Internets, this requires deeply esoteric knowledge to see through and is usually masked by many layers of post-irony; something akin to an anti-meme.
If you want to save the Internets, the best thing you can probably do is stop using social media. Get off YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. They WANT you to have an addiction. They keep you hooked with their algorithms and unending (yet absolutely wasteful) content. Stop using their sites to doomscroll and upholding an artificial monopoly for a company that ultimately benefits from your destruction, and preferably seek out more niche internet spaces, such as imageboards or webforums—but wait... aren't those social media too? Well, the main difference is that they encourage conversation in real time and don't spoon-feed you an algorithm of what it thinks you want to see. Hell, Xbox LIVE and VRChat are preferable alternatives to social media.
