John Robin Sharpe AKA Robin Sharpe was described as a high-risk sex offender with previous convictions for indecent assault on a male and possession of child pornography. He was a well known, outspoken, pedophile and Canadian activist, sex offender and child abuser. He had often lectured for the Montreal Ganymede Collective, a group of pedophiles who meet in person to discuss having sex with young children, based in Montreal, Canada.

Sharpe had been married and divorced and had written about having worked in a group home with children. He later became a foster parent as well. At the age of 50, he began to travel often to the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. It is highly possible that he may have been living in one of those countries at this time. He has also written about his history of drug abuse, calling himself a "fan" of LSD and marijuana, to the point of campaigning for legalization of all recreational drugs. In addition, Sharpe was probably best known for having challenged portions of Canada's laws regarding written forms of child pornography, without legal representation of his own. He was acquitted of charges relating to his journals and stories, but was found guilty of possession of child pornography in the form of images which were found in his possession.

In 2002, Sharpe was arrested again and convicted on charges of gross indecency and sexual assault, but has failed to comply with requirements to register as a sex offender. The victim, a little boy, was only 11 years old at the time of the abuse. There was an outstanding, Canada-wide, warrant for his arrest.

He died on August 27, 2015 in Victoria, BC of liver cancer and other illnesses. He was 82.
