In September 1996, Joseph Edward Gallegos, aka “Bubba”, an 18-year-old man from Bayfield, Colorado, reportedly listened to Brotha Lynch Hung's song Locc 2 da Brain repeatedly before fatally shooting some of his his normie friends. Neighbors having heard the gunplay called police and thus ensued a low-level shootout the result of which being Killer Joe got wasted at only 2 stars. Although Gallegos' motive was determined to be depression following a breakup with his girlfriend, his minister suggested that the music had played a role in the killings.
