Self Defense
Self Defense is a legal defense that was created to protect cops and the rich in those cases when they need to put down some piece of obnoxious shit that is either in their way for an inheritance, Just Because they're black or simply because they're a woman that's afraid of losing the child support goldmine that comes from a divorce and puts 3 shots in the back of her sleeping husband's head with a .357 because, she knew, when he got up he was going to scream at her.
For everyone else, self defense is a fast and efficiant way to have a felony put on their record, because even if someone may be defending their life, they law favors the idea that the last one standing is the agressor.
The way the law sees it, You can instigate a situation by threatening someone's life. Particape in the situation by attacking the person, even using a weapon. So long as you don't win, you get to play the victim because the law ignores the entire situation you started and focuses on the fact that the other person kicked your ass, and because of that, was never in a life or death situation where self defense would be necessary.
Escalation
Ever since Robert Peel invented the idea of an organized, professional police force in 1829 to protect the interests of the rich and enforce laws made to punish the poor, Cops have been crying for bigger and better weapons. Anecdotes from as early as the 40s have cops crying for heavier and heavier weapons, demanding .357s or other heavier calibers using the excuse that their .38s had no effect on doped-upped niggers that included stories about how a black man was high on Marijuana and started attacking people. Coming under attack as he was trying to calm the crazy person down, the cop came under attack and had no choice but to put 6 shots from his service .38 into the perp's chest that did nothing but piss the attacker off and the violant offender kept coming after him until the cop was finally able to pull a second weapon and shoot him in the head. The drug being used changes with the decade this story is told. In the 40s and 50s it was marijuana, in the 60s and 70s it was PCP and the 1980s and 90's describe crack as being the drug the doped up nigger was on while more modern versions use Meth. And yes, in the story, it is always a drugged-up nigger attacking the cop.
Most intelligent people would ask if the cop actually hit the guy because 6 shots in anyone's chest, even with a .22, is going to ruin anyone's day but having a need to prove that they do something other than sit at a donut shop or a bar all day they feed the people with lies about how every day they face death from the dangers of being a cop until finally we no longer have police but rather a para-military force patrolling our streets that will shoot at any things that moves because they have convinced everyone that there's a war going on between street gangs and the police for our neighborhoods and streets.
Much like their tools of their trade, the laws have also changed to favor the police. For instance, logic says that if a cop is busy beating the shit out of someone that that person should have the right to defend themselves but the idea of Duty To Retreat says that they should either sit there and take it, then file police brutality charges on the officer if they live or try to run away and take 6 shots to the back to later have the cop claim you were resisting arrest, turned to attack him and when you saw him pull his service pistol, you turned to run and that's why there're 6 bullets in your back.
Reasonable Force

The law uses two ideas to fuck the average person in the ass when is comes to self defense, Reasonable Force and the Duty To Retreat.
First thing: Forget everything you've seen on Television because when you're working your midnight fail at 7-11 and you decide to chase that robber outside and fire a couple of shots with the store .38 in the direction the robbers are escaping get ready to do some time for discharging a weapon. If you hit one of them, you'll be up for murder or attempted murder because the law says that once the robbers left there was no more threat.
Think you have more rights in your house? Depending on the state, reasonable force says that you have to prove that an intruder posed an immediate threat to your life. So if someone breaks into your house, is unarmed, rifling through your living room and only stealing your laptap and you give them both barrells from a twelve gage, you're fucked because duty to retreat says you should have retreated into your bedroom, locked the door and called the cops. Now if that same person has a plastic gun and comes into your bedroom - you have every right to send them to hell but watch how many times you shoot them because reasonable force says you can only use just enough force to end the threat. Even if the kill is legal, expect to be arrested, do some time in jail while a grand jury decides of is was or wasn't murder and if charges should be filed.
Don't even think about the double tap, putting two bullets center mass, because if you're a civilian, the first shot is self defense the second is murder. Cops are the only ones with the rights to empty a clip into someone and call it self defense.
The way to understand it is like this, you can instigate a fight, participate in the fight and the person that wins that fight is usually fucked in the eyes of the law because you are both the aggressor. The first is the aggressor for starting the fight and the other for choosing to be a part of it.
If you're at a bar and someone says they're going outside to wait in the parking lot to kick your pimply faced, neck bearded loser ass and you go out and fight - the law will fuck you in the ass if you fuck up that person and they press charges because according to Duty to retreat, you should have stayed in that bar and called the cops. For the lulz if you go outside and get fucked up you pretty much have no rights because you chose to leave the safety of the bar, didn't call the cops making the fight one of Mutual Combat.
On the other hand, if that same guy threatened a cop the pig can go outside and empty his service weapon and back up weapon into that guy's ass because self defense laws favor cops in that they are justified in protecting their lives during an immediate threat to their person when a felony is being committed and threatening a cop is a felony.
Bullying
So, you have someone calling your fat, pimply faced, hairy ass a fag in school. Outside of losing weight, seeing a dermatologist, investing in some razors and acting butch - all you can really do, outside of nothing, is let your whole school know you're a pussy by telling a teacher and getting the name caller some detention. After words, in case you need to be told, all that will happen is that they up their game because they know that they are getting to you. When it comes to name calling, the law refers to the old adage of Sticks and Stones. The only way people get charged for name calling, harrasment, is when it can be attached to a more serious crime such as assault. For example, someone calling a person a nigger before hitting them square in the face with a baseball bat.
On the other hand, a cop can arrest you for Disturbing The Peace if you decide to call them a pig, thug, loser with a gun or Animal Control because they're usually the same fat, pimply faced, hairy assed faggots that you knew when you were going to High School and now that they have a gun and a badge, they all of a sudden think that they've grown a pair.
Legally, you can not stop bullying in school because the law does not see name calling as a crime. The law's opinion on name calling is for you to stop being such a pussy, grow a thicker skin and finally, grow the fuck up because there is no way the law can protect your Snowflake ass from being called a whore because you had to sleep with your whole High School football team.
In this day and age, because there are people like Tara Strong, Rosie O'Donnell and others that want to end all violence in schools, all they have done is give power to the name caller.
Our grandparents had the right idea. When there was a chance that someone would have to put up with an ass kicking because they said something someone didn't like, people didn't run their mouths. All people like Tara Strong have done is ensured that name callers are protected because if you drop some piece of shit for calling Your Mom a Whore, the first thing the judge is going to do is ask you how much she charges before sentencing you for assault.
