Ed Balls is a British politician and either a minor Twitter celebrity, or an enigma depending on how you look at it.

Originally tweeted on April 28th, 2011, it has since become somewhat of a holiday on Twitter as of 2013. As of this writing, the tweet itself has 20,966 retweets and 8,478 favorites. It's possible that Mr. Balls was trying to search for tweets mentioning his name without directly @mentioning his handle, but ended up tweeting his own name and thus creating a legend in the process.
No one really knows why he tweeted his own name, or why it became so popular. All we know is this: ED BALLS!!
