Projection is what happens when a hypocrite can't accept the fact that they're a hypocrite and proceeds to accuse others of the same shit that they, themselves, are guilty of. For example, imagine that a purple-haired slut leads a harassment campaign against numerous individuals and then proceeds to claim that she is the victim of a harassment campaign.
