The below pix are from a 2002 book called Why Paint Cats which featured over a dozen tastefully painted cats and their owners. It also sparked a shitstorm of butthurt from the likes of PetA and other concerned animal lovers.
History
Way back before it became fashionable for 'animal lovers' and pet owners to pierce and tattoo their beloved family cats and dogs, hippies were painting their cats to show how clever, artistic and cool they were.
