The release of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises in 2012 brought with it the conclusion of a successful and relatively intriguing trilogy along with the undisputed excellence that was the Aurora Theatre Shooting. Some argue that this legacy is at risk of becoming tarnished as a result of the mass outpouring of painfully unfunny memes, primarily focusing upon the character of Bane, which have since emerged to further befoul the already notoriously toxic internet.
