Warez is the product of a valid crack and the de facto medium that allows poor people to afford overpriced shitware, whether it be video games, desktop applications, or an entire operating system, even you can get it for free off the internet without having to pay a single jew!

Some so-called warez exist purely to exploit or fuck up your computer by cooking malware into it: usually to mine crypto, or system32 your ass. Others are legitimate and truly contain working programs, but these are eventually baleeted by the sigh-bear police who patrol the internets for pirated content – unless of course, its decentralized; websites like The Pirate Bay, LimeTorrents, and 1337x are common places for warez that wondrously can't be shut down by the van because of decentralization that torrenting gives them. Downloading files off generic file-hosting website is centralized. So stick to torrents if you want downloads to last.

Cracking

A software crack (or just crack) is the file that contains or modifies software to get around the restricted access or features otherwise necessary. Ultimately giving birth to warez.

Types of Cracks

Programs - They come in three forms: a drag & drop, a pre-crack/activate, and a re-pack. Drag & drops cracks are done by installing the software normally, then moving certain files to the directory that software was installed to. Precracks are drag & drops and other work already done for you. Repacks are precracks that are compressed into an installation/setup file (mainly with cracked games).
Keys - These can either be serial keys to verify the use of software, or activation/product keys to "unlock" certain features of a program. For example, AVG markets the shit out their spyware ridden antivirus software, and even calls you out for using an "illegal" copy, yet all someone has to do is Google "Free AVG serial keys" and boom—several working keys* that, once entered, give you the entire full version of the software for free. These keys are often used with free trial versions of software. *Although you can find keys on google it is recommended to stay fishy of all given sites, as most legitimate where removed from the results. In more recent modern cracking there are generators (keygens) for the sake of having to rely on one key, and to give the possibility of generating individual accounts. However, this requires time consooming reverse engineering efforts – as such it is the leading method for key account authorization.
Patches - These are packets of information used to update a program if it goes out-of-date. Usually used with programs that go out of date every year.
Viruses - Although not a type of software crack on its own, a lot of promised "free services" are indeed, viruses and malware. Exemplar: people were actually stupid enough to download the "PC version of GTA V" via a torrent months before it was even announced. People fall for this more commonly than you might think.

Distribution

Warez are generally made available to the e-public by software pirates. Moreover, much of this happens over IRC, Bittorrent and Usenet and therefore it's serious fucking business. Since all pirates are those who properly know how to manage their budget, and stick it to the man, but it hurts the "industry" (of scamming you to pay up for the distribution, NOT the engineering, of numerical digits), some argue that there is more drama relating to software piracy than all other internets drama combined. Downloading warez is very similar to masturbation, as most people do it, but dislike talking about their personal experiences to people that might get their feelings hurt.

The Myth

One of the most common myths about using pirated software is that you can actually "get caught" using it and have the partyvan knocking on your front door almost instantly, slaughtering your entire family. This is propaganda in its prime, as it's simply a silly story-virus spread by those software owners who couldn't get an extension to there 500 foot yacht, to those ignorant norps retelling those stories, and the FBI complying with their complaints to scare you into conforming to their standards; not taking anything given out for free on the internet that is otherwise paid elsewhere.

If your ass did somehow get caught, and inside a police station, you would only get a warning; you are not the one who distributes or engineers this, you are only taking what is given or found without the intention of infringement. And even if you say that you intended to violate it, you in utmost would be given a small fine, because you did not create the crack.

Tactic
