Totally not a ripoff.

Steins;Gate (シュタインズ・ゲート Shutainzu Gēto?) is a wacky science-lulzy animu that is filled with pointless mass advertising and meme resource. The plot is probably written by some autist who doesn't know jackshit about time travel, let alone actual scientific research. The main character is a paranoid mad scientist who seeks to fit the stereotype. Its only redeeming factor is the amount of money the creators got out of the American audience by shitting in their mouths and calling it a show.

HOUOUIN-FUCKIN'-KYOUMA, aka Okabe Rintarou or Okarin- Batshit insane university Student convinced that there is a gigantic, evil organization chasing after him in order to acquire the knowledge behind his microwave oven. Claims to be MADDO SCIENTIST, but hand-waves most of modern physics and is likely more interested in Dr. Pepper than actual science. His favourite hobbies include talking to himself, assigning stupid nicknames to people and hunting down ancient Thinkpads.

Daru- Okabe's roommate and 4chan incarnate. Fat, unmotivated, and hates anything 3D with the exception of slim catgirls. Despite talking like a 13-year-old with down syndrome he's actually the smartest character in the show, being able to build a time machine and hack into SERN.

Mayuri Shiina- aka Tutturu token Jailbait who hangs around Daru and Okabe's apartment to entertain them. Easily amused and most likely retarded. Originally the object of the basement-dwellers' sick fantasies, she gradually gets pushed to the side as better girls come along.

KurisuTIIIINA Makise Kurisu Genius girl of the series, always relenting the fact she's surrounded by morons. Much like Richard Hammond, she is an Americunt trapped in a foreigner's body. She seems to have a questionable knowledge of internet memes, as she is a regular visitor of 2chan. Her amount of science is second only to the faggot MC, as is her tsundere nature. Also known as Assistant, The Zombie, Celeb 7, and Anon.

Ruka Urushibara- Most normalfags fawn over Ruka until they realize "she" is actually male, at which point they lose interest. This, however, is not a problem for anime fans at all, and as a result Ruka is easily one of the most fapped-to characters. Okarin later manages to turn him into a girl by sending a text message to his mother's pager, but backpedals when he realizes Kurisu is actually the better girl.

Faris Nyan-Nyan- Pink-haired girl who actually has a proper name that nobody ever remembers. Basically a richfag who converted an entire neighbourhood from doing something productive into an otaku-pandering cesspit. Speaks with what is easily the world's most annoying verbal tic and uses her kawaii body to extract money and favours from virgins like Daru and Okabe. Given the amount of shit she fucks up you'd think she's working for SERN, but in reality she's just a moron.

Amane Suzuha- Another fine piece of jailbait who traveled all the way from the future just to hang out with a bunch of 2chan losers. She was one of Daru's many rape interests until he finds out she's actually his daughter, which again is not a problem for most fans of the series.

Kiryuu Moeka- dubbed Shining Finger by Okabe, Moeka is a beautiful, extremely well-endowed basement dweller who only talks to people by sending text messages. Not a minute goes by without her contemplating suicide.

Yugo Tenouji- a master troll and Okabe's landlord. He loves CRTs, and runs a shop to sell and repair them, but since this anime takes place in 2010 and nobody buys that antiquated shit anymore, he's constantly trying to extract more Jew Gold from Okabe.
