Trolling - God Tier Level!
I thought about making it even ~more~ realistic sounding and using ~actual~ spoilers...but then I thought...mmmm...probably we have enough death threats thrown at ED as it is. ;)
Feel free to improve/enhance the image if you like (or replace with something as equally lulzy). There's probably a special place in hell for you though if you actually post the ~real~ leaked spoilers/video. --Onideus 18:05, 16 May 2013 (EDT)

Interwiki
Several users from other wikis inspired by ED have proposed interwiki with ED. Both sites link to the equivalent ED article for their articles with interwiki, and it seems like a good idea to link back to them... Maybe not just interwik with lurkmore.to, and dramatica.org.ua, maybe even UD definitions, partyvan wiki, Nigrapedia and KYM(they link to ED articles as add. resources in many of theirs)
Although there would definitely a couple sites that would definitely or likely be blacklisted from interwiki if done..)
What do others think about this idea? We'd have to bug and convince E and the other bureaucrats to install the interwiki mediawiki addon, though..-- Talk to me|Contribs 20:24, 24 May 2013 (EDT)

Spam Accounts Are Getting Out Of Hand
Do we have some automated way of removing these...there's like...dozens upon dozens of them now, most of them are like sleeper accounts. The bot creates the account and then lets it sit for awhile and then randomly activates it at a later time to try and avoid detection. There's upwards of like ten accounts a day being shit out onto the site. They have the potential to do far more than just spam as well, they could in fact cause a significant amount of damage (if that's the intent of whoever is building them up). --Onideus 04:36, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
- The old ED had a janitor bot to help filter this out. If anyone here is a good enough programmer to cobble one together, it would be helpful. In the meantime, I highly recommend Sweet Captcha. Wait, hold back the torches and pitchforks for a second. Click the link. It's Customizable and very effective against bots without being as annoying as the blurry words kind. If it's an army of Azns making accounts for pennies an account (yes, that happens now), manual means are the only real means to stop spam accounts.
- Anyway, more ideas to help stop the spam accounts. Some are more paranoid than others....
- Implement IP bans and MAC address bans on spam accounts. This should clean out chunks of accounts at a time.
- Making people have to do some actual edits before being able to make a new article. Spam bots love crapping out new articles.
- Turn off editing for suspected spam accounts. Let them appeal in the TJC or a special page if they want to edit.
- Force people to come and say hi in the TJC or a welcome page before they can edit the rest of the site.
- Have account cleanups every now and then. No edits = delete the accounts. A real user can always come back and make a new account, but, chances are, a real user has an edit history and wouldn't get hit.
- The account cleanups could also hit people who only upload stuff (this is not instragram!) and people who only do minor edits as well. I've seen bots/spammers make uploads and minor edits to keep low profile.
- Nothing's perfect, but hopefully these ideas give a start. --3tails 17:13, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

Another potential solution is to setup a bot to automatically dump/block/ban any account that sits idle for say 30 days with no contributions. That would probably eliminate like 90% of this problem overall, since the majority are "sleeper accounts". --Onideus 16:22, 10 June 2013 (EDT)
- Pretty sure that zaiger said not to ban them unless/until they actually do spam.--

- Yeah, you generally shouldn't. I'm doing it because I specifically know how/where to check. I did provide a basic link though for general checking:
- It's not going to pick up all of them, but it'll make it easier for those of us who know how to properly check. If you're not sure how to check properly or it doesn't come up on that link then you should most definitely *NOT* delete them.

The Cancer That's Killing ED
We keep losing highly contributing members (like Gray) due to tweenage muppet fuck, 4Chan level trolling like this:

And even the highly contributing members who stick around wind up having to continually babysit this stupidity, which takes away from time they could have had to update and work on articles. For instance I ~had~ planned to upload another 200 images this morning, but now I've got to put that off so I can babysit, Dumbfuck.
I think the biggest problem is that we have too many kids acting like kids (who for some odd reason have admin and editor status) and not enough grown ups running the site, which is basically just running everything into the ground. --Onideus 09:01, 6 June 2013 (EDT)

- There are some lesser search engines/crawlers which still make use of them, but not many. It would make more sense to properly rename the IMAGE files within the article though. Overall it's file names that have the biggest general effect on search results, so if you've got an article with 100+ images and they're all named, "9342934.jpg" basically it's gonna seriously hinder the pages overall search ranking. That's why I always use overly detailed/categorized naming conventions with everything I upload. --Onideus

Spam Account IP Addies
So I guess the "debate" is whether to ban for six months ~with~ an IP ban, or to NOT ban the IP and then ban the account for infinite...probably the later would be best I'm guessing, since the bots/spam artists don't really care about their throw-away IPs anyway.
Well, I suppose we could check: 94.23.235.168
Here's another: 37.59.151.194 - ElinorMEL - donovanwhetham1958@hotmail.com
And another: 173.234.232.252 - RickeyLev - carrollschubert@mailnesia.com
...someone wanna try that out? You'll have to guess on the port number, probably 80 or 8080 I'm guessing (just run through the standards). They might be restricted proxies though (specifically for use in spamming)...in which case I suppose banning the IPs doesn't much matter. *shrugs*

- You have a history of using bots and scripts to undo edits by other users that you don't like. And this isn't the first time you've used bots to be a menace to others on a wiki. Don't forget that you are literally the only one who complains about them on the Thizzlehat Junction Center. So I think there is a definite possibility that some of these spam bots belong to you. I also question the practice of using bots on Encyclopedia Dramatica in the first place.

Oh, by the by, speaking of the automated spam accounts, don't just nuke them arbitrarily (like I think some people are doing), make sure you *CHECK* first. If you don't know how/where to check for Wiki spam accounts, then best not to make ASSumptions. --Onideus 11:48, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- An outsider's view: bots and scripts do have valid uses on a wiki. They are there to take care of mundane things people don't have time to do (like welcoming everyone), filter out obvious spam accounts before they can post (they don't have to be nuked, they might just need to post for an Admin on a special page first), patrol pages for blanking, and maybe even encourage people to actually categorize images. However, it's possible to abuse bots if someone's having a hissyfit- this looks like a hissyfit.
- If you don't like having an article about you, don't give them a reason to make an article (like throwing a hissyfit edit war over having an article about yourself). Seriously... you're staff. You're supposed to set an example for the other users as to what's acceptable here. Rank is not an excuse for special treatment, it's a reason to hold yourself to a higher standard. I don't know you guys personally and I don't give a fuck if this makes you rage or if you agree. This is just a stupid edit war and nothing more. --3tails 16:13, 7 June 2013 (EDT)

- Say what you like. Anyways, the events have been covered here.
- *sigh* Kids these days...what the hell are they teaching you in school? Unless you're running some ancient piece of shit browser from last century...oh, hey, guess what? Yeah, you're running scripts on this and every other fucking site you've ever been on...you were just too ignorant/dim-witted to realize it. And guess what else? If you're running any browser plugins, you're PURPOSEFULLY and INTENTIONALLY running scripts on this and every other site you've ever been on...again, you were just too ignorant/dim-witted to realize it.
- To even ~try~ and suggest that people shouldn't be allowed to use scripts/bots is no different from saying that you don't ever want anyone to ever step foot on the site ever unless they're running AOL ver 1.0 or some shit. Those like Schnookums are just angry and pissy because they don't know how to actively utilize browser plugins. Essentially they're whining because they don't know how to use a fucking browser! *epic face palm*
- --Onideus
16:36, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- Oh also, regarding this:
- "Seriously... you're staff. You're supposed to set an example..."
- Yes, as staff we are, which means if you get especially butthurt you aren't supposed to use ED and ED articles as your "personal army" to try and attack people with. In this particular case Schnookums was making blatant vanity/USI edits to an article...which, as staff, I was certainly within the right to be reverting them.
- It should ALSO be noted that LATER, another admin came along, took his blatant shit/vanity edits, REWROTE THEM and REFORMATTED THEM (moving them to the bottom, restoring images that were stripped off and removing blatant attack/unfunny/unrelated images). Schnookums then came along, took one look at the article and ASSumed it had just been reverted and then proceeded to spaz the fuck out in a fury of butt mad rage and got into yet ~another~ edit war...only technically the second time he was in an edit war with Mr. Jonnz, which he didn't finally figure out until like FOUR HOURS later! *epic face palm*
- Oh also, regarding this:
- In all honesty Schnookums should not be an admin. He hasn't been on the site very long, he's too young, he's too inexperienced, his edits aren't really all that great and he's overly emotional to the point where every other five minutes I feel compelled with a wanton desire to ask him if he needs a fucking tampon. Really, the ~only~ thing that makes him even remotely qualified to be an admin is the fact that he has no life and hangs out on the site every waking hour of the day...that's pretty well it. In all honesty...we could replace him with a fucking bot. --Onideus
