The bogeyman (also spelled/known as boogeyman, boogie monster, boogie woogie, or bugaboo and bugbear) is a mythical creature used by religions and parents to terrorize kids into following distinct protocols. They are typically depicted as a vague yet mystical and anthropomorphic monster that punishes you for misbehavior, and is often utilized in creepypastas online. Boogeyman is also used more generally to describe any fearsome or dreaded thing.
