Why no mention of REdLetterMedia? That's where this is from.

It all began with a running gag from [[RedLetterMedia]]'s Mr. Plinkett reviews. During RedLetterMedia's review of ''First Contact'', Mr. Plinkett criticizes Captain Picard's reckless disregard for the well-being of hiscrew, which he finds out of step with how Picard is portrayed on the TV series. When Picard reveals his reckless plan to the crew, RedLetterMedia has a expendable, no-name crew member [[Interject|interrupt]] Picard with logic. This crew member had been shooped into an Imperial Guardsman (soldier of the Astra Militarum, for any copyright attorneys out there). The connection is obvious enough; both Star Trek's red shirts and 40k's Guardsmen exist to be blasted into chunky giblets on a worthless hill without any conceivable tactical advantage on some backwater planet no one will remember next week, and fuck all else. Ostensibly, the image was created as a way to point out plot holes and inconsistencies in an in-universe way.

ALERT: THIS IS A FORCED MEME
Excuse me, Commissar will be posted by the same
unfunny newfag until you like it.

Excuse me, Commissar is the latest trend sweeping through /tg/, leaving burned husks and weeping nerds in its wake. As such, literally tens of people are vaguely aware of its malign existence. As with some 60% of all things /tg/, its putrescent origins can be traced to that most nerdly of math games, Warhammer 40,000.

Origin

The original.
The shoop.

It all began with a running gag from RedLetterMedia's Mr. Plinkett reviews. During RedLetterMedia's review of First Contact, Mr. Plinkett criticizes Captain Picard's reckless disregard for the well-being of his crew, which he finds out of step with how Picard is portrayed on the TV series. When Picard reveals his reckless plan to the crew, RedLetterMedia has an expendable, no-name crew member interrupt Picard with logic.

The response to this was anything but atypical: unholy rage.

Now

As of early 2015, this minor meme is, naturally enough, completely bastardized and used for no other purpose than to make neckbeards squeal with impotent rage, as neckbeards are wont to do. Excuse me, Commissar threads on /tg/ are routinely saged and assailed by legions of wrathful nerds, sputtering half chewed Cheetos into their monitors, as, /tg/ being /tg/, there simply isn't enough activity to push the offending thread off the board any time soon. The abject horror.

Or the entire article, for that matter. It may as well be written in fucking High Gothic. At any rate, the cancer had soon spread to far flung aspects of the Imperium, and even Chaos and xenos. Cancer, indeed.
