Oh wow we're sooooo hyped

The Game Awards is yet another banine annual awards ceremony in which a bunch of corporate suits sniff each other's farts and brag about their yearly release of the shoddily crafted skinnerboxes that pass for video games these days. Nobody knows why this shitshow of a series is still widely viewed by masses of braindead twitch viewers for sure, because the vote rigging and faggotry for this show is more obvious than the rigging in the 2020 Presidential Elections. Established in 2014 following SpikeTV dropped their Video Game Awards (because they knew it was garbage even back then), Geoff Keighley made this show as it's successor, now with even more corporate sponsors. Honestly, the two main highlights of these Awards were as follows: That time Samuel L. Jackson hosted the 2012 SVGA's, and when Angry Joe embarassed himself in front of Geoffy by not even knowing which games came out that year. That's it. It doesn't get better than that, trust us.

History

90% jury vs 10% fan votes. Huh, seems legit to me!

Last Thursday Keighley figured out that Spike TV was less eager to pursue the 2013 show, and they wanted to rebrand it from the VGAs to VGX. In addition to having Joel McHale co-host, they wanted to reflect on how they wanted to focus more on next-gen games. As awful as the 2013 show was due entirely to it being nothing more than a corporate showcase, it was a sign of things to come.
