Encyclopedia Dramatica talk:Portal Maintenance

From Encyclopedia Dramatica

This looks to be a good idea, it will see greater variety and will make sure that not just the favorite article of just one user (probably the same article for weeks at a time) is on the front page or a portal. I just unprotected the last of the Portal / Portal templates so its all good to go I guess. ~Oblique 11:04, 27 January 2012 (CET)

  • Also, HOW unprotected do we make portals? I took the protection off a few that I used to manage, but I made it so that new/unregistered users still can't edit. Should I unlock them 100%? TylerRosenow º Ӕ talk º 11:08, 27 January 2012 (CET)
I set it so that anyone can edit them, but only sysops can move them (seeing as they were a target for page move vandalism a while ago and nobody really needs to move them). If someone is vandalizing it, utilize your rollback butan :D ~Oblique 11:12, 27 January 2012 (CET)
Yes unlock them 100%. We have gone over this before, portals are not to be locked, semi-protected, nothing. Regular users cannot move pages anyway, it is set in LocalSettings.php --zaiger (talk) 17:37, 27 January 2012 (CET)

LiveJournal portal

Should we keep upkeep on this one or just retire it? I don't mean delete it, I just mean take it off of this list and leave it for archive purposes. What do you guys think? --zaiger (talk) 21:33, 27 January 2012 (CET)

Really? Nobody cares? Are any of you old enough to remember Livejournal? --zaiger (talk) 06:44, 1 February 2012 (CET)

Probably not. If thats truly the case its probably outdated then. ~Oblique 06:50, 1 February 2012 (CET)

I put a link to this page in the sidebar for easier access. I really hope this works. --zaiger (talk) 06:47, 1 February 2012 (CET)

  • Seeing as the last week in the whole page is 9th of April, doesn't look like it's working. Should I just fill in all those empty week spaces if I am to do some maintenance or..? --MilænorTSW 11:59, 14 March 2012 (EDT)
Yeah I agree, I am, just going to take out the schedule part. --zaiger (talk) 12:25, 14 March 2012 (EDT)
So, we're going to do without it? Just flipped the Anime fa. --MilænorTSW 09:57, 15 March 2012 (EDT)
Ok maybe we could just have a list? Like whenever someone changes a portal over they can just add it to the list, that was at least we will know which ones have been done. --zaiger (talk) 18:03, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
'kay, made the list. --MilænorTSW 04:24, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
Where are the portal side links btw? 3: DekoMan91   19:19, 27 March 2012 (EDT)

Well...

Example: Portal:Faggotry has been un-noticed all this time, and as I don't see anything very active on Portals, free way is the better way for doing this.    Snape    talk    contribs    17:46, 16 March 2012 (EDT)

Yeah this didn't work. I don't know what to do. Maybe Meepsheep can add bi-weekly reminders to his bot, so like it will post a message on the talkpage of the postal caretaker reminding them to change over their portal. We had this on ED.com and it worked out semi-well. Better than anything we have tried at least. --zaiger (talk) 18:06, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, that mysterybot thingy... hmmm... good idea. I also think that it will be better to put the full list of portals in the siebar and then the portal maintenance article.    Snape    talk    contribs    11:32, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
