Driv3r
Driv3r (pronounced: driv-three-err) or Driver 3 when you are not a complete fucking retard was a sequel that utterly destroyed a franchise so hard it later had to rename itself to Watch_Dogs. And that's just the tip of the shitberg.
The game
Like the earlier games, you play as an undercover cop, who has to race and destroy all the baddies. But unlike the two earlier games, instead of destroying them with your cars, it had to be more GTA style. So now you had the option to shoot shit up, instead of having fun racing.
Driv3rgate
Suddenly realizing that the game couldn't be finished before a game called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was getting a release, the publisher Atari had to think fast. Because who would buy a game that was a GTA Lite? So first they threw all their money at this doomed project, but it wasn't enough. Wat do? You convince gaming journalists, the most unethical fucks on the planet to give the game at least an 8/10, in the exchange of them getting the game months before release. So PSM2 and XboxWorld happily printed 8/10 and 9/10 scores in exchange for selling more copies of their shitty magazines.
Guru Larry with the inside scoop
Come release day, people quickly realized how unfinished this game actually was.

So people quickly swarmed the forums demanding to know how the fuck this crap got an 8/10. A moderator over at gamesradar expressed his view over how bad this game were. And soon the forum was invaded by people bought to swarm forums and praise the game.
And they would have gotten away with it
If it wasn't for this man, Stuart Campbell
Who went and saved 42 pages of Gamesradar posts, that highlighted exactly how Atari tried to silence the internet.
