Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (or SpaceX) is a private space travel company run by Elon Musk, a South African white person who also founded Tesla. It is mostly founded by the United States government agency NASA, which put 2 men on the Moon in 1969, but has never returned to there since 1972.

They made the first privately-funded rocket to reach orbit, the Falcon 1.

History

SpaceX was founded in 2002 by Elon to help make rockets cheap enough to allow the colonization of Mars.

CRS-7

A mission to send cargo to the International Space Station, CRS-7, was launched on June 28, 2015. Around 2 minutes and 19 seconds after liftoff, the rocket disintegrated due to failing struts. If it succeeded, it would have been another attempt at landing the Falcon 9 first-stage. But it just so happens to know that it contained a discontinued spacesuit NASA still uses since 1981.
