Kevin Burke

Kevin Burke, film director and epic troll.

Kevin Burke (a.k.a. Better_Butter321, AnonyMouse32 and The Ghostbusters Troll) is a 43-year-old Canadian neckbeard, film maker, redditor and a long-time user of /r/moviescirclejerk who, on July 10, 2016, decided to troll the /r/ghostbusters subreddit by making a thread that implied that the entire community was trying to make the recent Ghostbusters "reboot" look bad – a very simple task since the movie was legitimately trash and was made solely to pander to dumb feminists and milk a long-dormant franchise that should have fucking died along with Harold Ramis in 2014.

What Kevin didn't expect was that multiple "news" outlets and shitty feminist bloggers would be too fucking retarded to fact check and would end up turning a reddit troll thread into an international news story. Kevin quickly deleted his reddit account to avoid detection, but he still left enough of a trail to allow a savvy internet detective to eventually track him down – although not before several others were falsely accused of being the epic troll known as Better_Butter321.

Circlejerkers

Better_Butter321 a.k.a. I think you've had enough fucking butter.
Separated at abortion?

/r/moviescirclejerk is a subreddit dedicated to mocking the numerous movie-related circlejerks that occur on reddit.

The Burke Identity

Through an amazing set of coincidences, Better_Butter321 just happened to be a Canadian movie aficionado with a penchant for trolling, snark and writing tl;dr bullshit that noone cared about.

Bustin’ Makes Boys Feel Sad — Why Ghostbusters is So Hated

Ok, so obviously the reviews aren't as bad as we had hoped. So what more can we do at this point to make sure that the public knows it's terrible so that it bombs?

We were doing a pretty good job of filtering out positive reviews in /r/movies, but they consolidated them into a mega thread and now people are starting to say maybe we were wrong.

Is there any way to easily get the word out on social media that the positive reviews are probably all paid for?

Absolutely insane. How can people be so desperate for a movie to fail?

Who you gonna call?

This girl is dying to see Fembusters.

Not long after the thread on reddit was created, Ashley Lynch posted a screencap of it on his Twatter in an attempt to show that Fembusters was the target of a massive misogynist hate campaign. Unfortunately, Ashley overlooked one small detail – the screenshot that he posted was taken a mere minute after he himself posted the thread on /r/ghostbusters!

Yes, in his haste to create a lulzy false-flag and blame ZOMG TEH GAMERGATORS, Ashley had committed the #1 sin of trolling – he revealed his identity and intentions by being a complete fuckwit.

Hijacking top comment to point out: Better_Butter321 has been shilling this terrible Ghostbusters reboot for over a month. They post non-stop about how "great" it is and how anyone who doesn't want to see it is a misogynist (because apparently "the graphics, jokes and script looks terrible" is misogyny).

Suddenly they're posting an Anti-Ghostbusters thread?

And WITHIN SECONDS, with NO REPLIES, a journalist called Ashley Lynch happens to screengrab it and post it on her Twitter as "proof" that it's somehow a conspiracy of people "hiding good reviews" that early audiences are absolutely panning it as terrible?

Sorry Ashley Lynch, on top of it at minimum showing you're a shit journalist and it being very likely that this Better_Butters321 account is you, it appears your fake bullshit was quickly refuted by actual Ghostbuster fans tearing this thread apart.

it's strange how ashley lynch twetted a screenshot of your post right in the same minute you posted it, isn't it? you could have at least waited a few minutes after posting that clear troll post before pretending to be outraged on twitter.

Rebooting the Matrix is a stupid idea beyond the inevitability of making a shitty film. You simply can’t recapture the Matrix.

If you refuse to be critical of a piece of media then you are a fan in the oldest and truest sense of the word — you’re a fanatic.

maybe the most egregious examples of people treating the movie unfairly were trolling just like you.
