Dead Island

From Encyclopedia Dramatica
Jump to navigationJump to search

Dead Island is a so-called "survival horror action role-playing game" that was developed by a group of polacks called Techland, published by a group of krauts called Deep Silver and released in North America on September 6, 2011, for the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and PC. The game was later given a "Game of the Year Edition" with all the DLC included, an asset flipped pseudo-sequel called Dead Island: Riptide and an HD remaster of both games for next gen consoles entitled Dead Island: Definitive Edition.

Anders Breivik Expansion

Dead Island is known for its deceptive pre-release marketing campaign that attempted to portray the game as a gritty and realistic simulation of a zombie apocalypse on a tropical island. The original trailer has become notorious for featuring somber music over the scene of a loli turning into a zombie and getting thrown the fuck out of a seventh story window by her daddy – which is odd considering that there are no children in the game at all.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Dead Island is absolute shit. Instead of the realistic survival zombie island, the gameplay is actually more fighter arcade-based and very repetitive. You run around an island and kill zombies, then you run around a town, then you run around some prison killing the same zombies over and over again. You can even play as a nigger who raps. The story and dialogue are cheesy, forgettable, and annoying. Plenty of generic fetch quests.
