Broly

In ancient Rome, children would play with their toys until they reached an age of sexual maturity, approximately 13, after which point they set aside their toys in a ceremony and went about the business of being men or child brides, as the case may be. Sadly, in this age of perpetual adolescence and in this country of cheap and available pastimes, many will never set aside their childish fascinations i.e. Broly, and set about the business of acting like they are no longer thirteen.

Broly is a classic object of obsession by young men, attractive and omnipotent at a time when viewers feel neither. He is violent and unrestrained, as their newly voluminous hormones exhort them to be. He is, in essence, one extreme of what a young, powerless male may wish to be. But then as young men become more practiced in the ways of the world, they come to recognize Broly for the caricature he is, bloated and rather disgusting. Excepting for the rare occasion when a young man, with a still unformed sexuality, may see Broly as less of a possible future and more of an object of sexual desire.
