Into the Trash It Goes

Into The Trash It Goes! is a phrase that was popularized on 4chan's /pol/ board in early 2013. A picture of Penn Jillette is often included with responses that use the phrase which it used to imply someone doesn't know what they are talking about.

Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller are professional illusionists, that's another way of saying they're homosexuals. The two have been performing since the late 1970's, are on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and behave like most celebrities, thinking that people care about their opinions. While both promote atheism and libertarianism, Penn Jillette is particularly militant about doing so.

Possibly it's because he had a controlling Christian father, or that he got his butt kicked on the playground for having a gay-sounding last name. Either way, he never got over it. His hatred of a non-existent God is evident when he speaks or writes "there is no God" onto autographs he signs. In these cases, "into the trash it goes!" applies to the illusionist.

While this phrase didn't originate on 4chan, once it became established there, its use caught on elsewhere on the internet. Those who wish to see it in action are encourage to start a thread on /v/ and praise Microsoft's Xbox One as being superior to Sony's PlayStation 4. If someone includes a picture of Penn Jillette in their response to you, it might be a good idea to determine if you really know what you're talking about, and if others do the same, it's time to lurk more or GTFO!
