Big Name Fan

Someone who is so active in fandom that their name becomes famous — well, among fans, at least. Basically, the fandom version of the Internet celebrity, although the term originated IRL.

Sometimes BNFs have a devoted following of fangirls. BNFs are often a focal point of wank and drama, usually because of said fangirls. Due to their rampant tunnel vision, these fangirls will ignore and/or deny all faggotry perpetrated by their god.

With BNFs, you can always expect self-fellatio, USI, and paranoia that other fans are starting rumors about them (or are "jealous" of their "insight" and talent at writing creepy fetish fanfic). Being that they base their identity and self-expression on another person's fictional work, they are devoid of any creativity or originality whatsoever. Those who claim that they will one day be published authors will likely end up writing florid porn for middle-aged housewives in a single-room apartment that smells of old bacon wrappers, urine, and moldy cheese.

Bountiful lulz may be mined when they inevitably kick up a temper-tantrum for some inconsequential reason or another (bonus points if the spat is with another BNF, which creates an all-out war).

Screencap for great justice and make angry PMs they send you public to further milk these lolcows when they unleash the fucking fury.
