Have any of you guys messed around with semantic wiki before? Ally 
maybe? What do you think of it? Is it well supported? It seems really 
fucking cool. Anyone have thoughts on this? I am really interested in

Yes, I did talk to him. He fucking called me on the phone.

I did as much no comment as possible, but he had clearly talked to someone else before me and I did my best to dampen 
whatever that other person had said. I don't know who it was, but they either forwarded or copy/pasted him emails from
this list. 

I don't have a problem with AC, and other than linking to the eversblogspot, this article isn't bad.
I think he knew I was lying when I said I was shocked that it was down, but he printed it anyway.

The problem is that the minute I say I'm done with ED, someone on this list decided the best possible
thing they could do was run to the fucking press. Whoever that person is : I FUCKING HATE YOU.

But Chen used all that as ammunition to force me to talk to him. I am

Further, just because the site shuts down, doesn't mean that I no 
longer exist and suddenly nothing matters to me anymore.

The basics coming up next are this:

We are going to turn the site off for some time in order to do a bunch of upgrades and install semantic mediawiki.
Please do google and learn about it. Whoever knows it best will win, trust me. Semantic mediawiki is going
to be a whole new world of awesome, in my opinion.

The placeholder at ED will be a box for people to put in their email address to get an update for when the site 
comes back online. There will also be a link to the new blog that the blog team will update starting hopefully
today. This way, people can view the blog while we are upgrading the wiki and fixing some articles.

Shit is about to get real and I want you all to hold on to your fucking hats. 

If you're not interested in going forward, feel free to let me know now. I completely understand and
appreciate your valued and important fealty up to this point, but staying on this list and keeping
access means that you're willing to be on board with the new plan going forward.

ED as we know it and as a domain has come to an end. 

There are so many reasons for this, and if we want to dive down into them, we can. But the
fact of the matter is that I can't continue to deal with ED as it is in it's present form. If it weren't
for Thayo being a stupid fucking cunt yesterday, ED would still be down and I wouldn't even
be thinking about this right now. 

But this is how things have turned out and now we are going forward in a new way that is probably 
the most controversial thing that we have ever done.

I am going to redirect ED to a new site with SFW content based strictly on internet culture including
memes, e-people, netspeak and website summaries. In order to get content for the new site, we 
are going to compile information from the following sources:
Old ED
KYM
Wikipedia
General internet
Basically we are going legit with a much more mainstream content base in the following formats:

-frequent-upate blog
-a wiki
-reddit style news aggregator

Blog
The blog portion is being set up now and I am still accepting writers, if you're interested. If you
loved the "satirical" writing portion, making fun of stuff and doing sendups, or whatever, then
the blog is the best place for you to be. It will also have general one-off stuff like funny pictures,
video and links. Also, the blog will house original content like our South Korea correspondent
Kale's reports from the field, interviews with e-celebrities like the 1guy1jar one dan did, as well
as reports and breaking news stuff, which we really don't have a good place to house on ED wiki now.
Think content like Cracked and Gawker or thedailywhat. 

I think this will be a really fun way for us to express ourselves without being subjected to n00bs
shitting all over our good writing.

Wiki
A SFW wiki that documents memes, people, sites and slang in a way that is funny, but more or 
less factual and interesting. It can be more tabloid style, but without personal attack articles, tons of
blatant and stupid racism, random played out 2007 style junk. Additionally, this site will have 
semantic mediawiki, which will  allow us to better guide users into making great content easily. It isn't 
just a huge text box for them to fill with crap. It's a series of forms where they put in the relevant 
information and make things uniform and organized. What I love about this is that it has a great amount of 
editorial and revision control so that we can choose which versions are seen by the general
public, and which are awaiting approval. We can turn this oversight on or off as needed.

Social News
This is third phase and something I am really into. I read reddit everyday and am obsessed
with it. Unfortunately it is dominated by news and politics and thus really depressing. However,
it is really addictive and fun to get into the comments and mix it up with people. I feel like this
could fill a lot of the user obsession with one-upping each other and getting some realtime
interaction and talking about stuff. There's also the "self post" aspect which is genius and
really fun. If you haven't ever seen reddit, check it out. 

The overall approach has to be one where the community, user-generated content and editorial-generated content all works together to provide a fun site where things are awesome and exciting. Obviously this will require sysops and community moderators to happen. You guys have shown to be the best of the best, crack team of internet leaders around. Think about it. No one has dealt with the stuff we have, no other mod team has go through this much bullshit and dealt with these kinds of users. You guys are the best and I want us to work together to crush our enemies and build sites and communities for the next era, instead of being stuck in the past.

lol wow you are so self centered. This is not an attempt to vilify
you, you are making yourself the villain by withholding the images and
user accounts and the history. Have you seen what is going on over
there? Thousands of people have come together to restore ED to it's
fully glory. Who cares about the passwords? You don't want them. Make
a backup, change the user privileges on the old admin accounts to
regular users, purge your account and be done with it. 99.99999% of
the hate will stop and you can walk away and go on with your life. You
will be a hero, the article on you that is up now will be overwritten
when the old wiki is installed. ED is a user generated website, what
is up in your article now is what the internet thinks about you and
your decisions when you and aren't there to censor them. We have
enough donations to buy it from you if that is what you want, but
unless you plan on putting it back up or you have deleted it, Daniel
Brandt is nothing compared to the userbase you betrayed.

By the way that was a really petty move having me glined, just
remember what goes around comes around and your karma level could use
a couple of good deeds.
