A software crack (pirated software, or just crack) is a file that contains or modifies software to get around restricted access or features otherwise necessary, whether it's a video game or desktop application, you can get it for free off the internet without having to pay a single jew! Some cracks exist purely to exploit or fuck up your computer by introducing malware into your operating system to mine crypto, or system32 your ass. Especially using Microcock Windows. Other cracks are legitimate and actually contain working programs or useful information, but these are eventually taken down by the sigh-bear police who patrol the internets for pirated content; unless it's decentralized, websites like The Pirate Bay, LimeTorrents, and 1337x are common places for software cracks that wondrously can't be shut down by the van because of decentralization. You can either torrent these files (decentralized), or download them regularly off a file-hosting website (centralized). Stick to torrents if you want downloads to last.

The Myth Surrounding Pirated Software

One of the most common myths about using pirated software is that you can actually "get caught" using it and have the partyvan knocking on your front door almost instantly and slaughter your entire family. This is complete bullshit, as its simply a silly story told by those software owners who couldn't get an extension to there 500 foot yacht, those ignorant norps believing and retelling those stories, and the fbi complying with their complaints to scare you into conforming to their standards; not taking anything that is given out for free on the internet.

If your ass did somehow get caught, and inside a police station, you would only get a warning. You are not the one who distributes or engineers this, you are only taking what is given or found without the intention of infringement. And even if you say that you intended to violate it, you in utmost would be given a small fine, because you did not create the software.

Types of Cracks

• Programs - They come in three forms: a drag & drop, a pre-crack, and a re-pack. Drag & drops cracks are done by installing the software normally, then moving certain files to the directory that software was installed to. Precracks are drag & drops and other work already done for you. Repacks are precracks that are compressed into an installation/setup file (mainly with cracked games).
• Keys - These can either be serial keys to verify the use of software, or activation/product keys to "unlock" certain features of a program. For example, AVG markets the shit out their spyware ridden antivirus software, and even calls you out for using an "illegal" copy, yet all someone has to do is Google "Free AVG serial keys" and boom—several working keys* that, once entered, give you the entire full version of the software for free. These keys are often used with free trial versions of software. *Although you can find keys on google it is recommended to stay weary of sites given in the results. In more recent modern cracking there are generators for the sake of having to rely on one key, and to generate individual accounts (which it previously wasn't able).
• Patches - These are packets of information used to update a program if it goes out-of-date. Usually used with programs that go out of date every year.
• Viruses - Although not a type of software crack on its own, a lot of promised "free services" are indeed, viruses and warez. Example: people were actually stupid enough to download the "PC version of GTA V" via a torrent months before it was even announced. People fall for this more commonly than you might think.
