QUALITY CONTROL

yo, this article's pretty shitty, it's all over the place... I think the history should be put into sub-sections, there should be more talk about anonymous (but keep it brief), and more focus on the non-/b/ parts of 4chan. 20/2/12 - Forced Anon on 4chan?

"As you may have noticed, we re-enabled FORCED_ANON (>implying anyone here is old enough to remember FORCED_ANON), and for the first time enabled DISPLAY_ID. Display ID comes from 2ch-style BBSes and assigns an ID to a user that varies by thread. OPs are tracked across multiple threads but only for a day (it changes after midnight), and "sage" replies print "Heaven" as the ID for those who want to remain completely anonymous. sage/noko still work as expected.

We used to do this on dis.4chan.org (a 2ch-style BBS) but disabled it a few years ago. It's been in our imageboard codebase for something like 8 years but we've never tried it out until now.

Let's see if this helps curb shitposting and return /b/ to its roots.

Also Moot disabled all dubs on at least /b/ except 00 for the epic gets. It's really hard to verify but all you have to do is refresh /b/ a couple times and notice the lack of dubs.Daveedila6 00:48, 21 February 2012 (EST)
