Henry Stickmin is an interactive cartoon movie series by animator PuffballsUnited. Originally released for flash Adobe Flash, the interactive movies are played through the flash emulator Ruffle. There are five cartoons in the series, with the latest being "completing the mission", released in August 2020. The earlier movies in the series were remastered with improved graphics.[1]

YouTube thought they had stomped interactive content on the web by removing annotations.[2] They were wrong.

The iterations of the series are "breaking the bank", "escaping the prison", "stealing the diamond", "infiltrating the airship", "fleeing the complex", and "completing the mission". Each iteration added more paths of interaction.

Gameplay

Fail screen after you make a poor choice. For example, by forgetting about torque.

At the beginning of the interactive movies, Henry starts out in a bad place or wants to steal valuable items.

The player gets several choices of what Henry should do next. Usually, only one of the choices leads to the next step while the the other choices lead to hilarious fails. For example, in "stealing the diamond", Henry tries placing the heavy diamond in the basket of his scooter, causing the torque from the weight of the diamond to catapult him off his scooter.

The user has to try all possibilities until finding the one that leads to the next step.

The interactive movies feature multiple storylines with different endings.[3]

Series

Breaking the bank

This movie has no happy ending for Henry.

Henry tries to break the walls of a bank using various tools, but fails. Then he hides inside a money bag. The bank staff gets fooled and throws him into the money container. When Henry crawls out of the money bag, a motion alarm system catches him. The outro scene shows him getting thrown in stickman cage.

The storyline continues in "Escaping the prison".

Esaping the prison

Henry finds himself in a stickman cage with various tools at his disposal.

He tries energy drink that made him invincible (not to be confused with invisible), letting him walk out of the prison while all prison guards appear frozen in time. Sadly for him, he died from a heart attack outside the prison building.

In the "sneaky escapist" storyline, he sneaks himself past the prison guards to the top of the building and plumbs down the wall. In the "lawyered up" storyline, Henry calls a lawyer who manages to convince the judge that Henry is not guilty. In "badass bust out", Henry drills his way to the bottom of the building, then manages to escape the prison guards and dodge their bullets.[4]

Stealing the diamond

Henry watches as the mayor presents the exhibit of a 12-million dollar diamond on television. Without further ado, he makes his way to the museum using a motor scooter.[5]

The game has three storylines. In the "Intruder on a scooter" storyline, Henry busts into the museum and steals the diamond by force, then escapes the police. In the "unseen burglar" storyline, Henry makes his way into the museum through the roof entry and sneaks out of the back door. In the "just plain epic" storyline, Henry breaks the wall of the museum to get in. A member of the "chaos containment center" sends in a robot that destroys the museum building and Henry runs away from the museum. As luck would have it, the diamond landed next to him outside the museum.

Infiltrating the airship

This is the first movie in the series to mention the "Toppat clan", a clan of thieves who owns an airship. Henry is tasked with taking control of the airship.[6]

Escaping the complex

This movie has five storylines. This is the first movie in the series where the female protagonist Ellie appears.

Henry and Ellie starts out in a high-security stickman cage building named "The Wall". In the "convict allies" story line, Henry escapes with Ellie through a lid in the ceiling and they both escape by motorbike. In the "ghost inmate" storyline, he escapes by boat. In the "presumed dead" storyline, he escapes using a truck. That truck falls off a cliff, but Henry manages to hold on to the cliff and climb back up and run away. In "the betrayed", the leader of the "Toppat clan" almost saved Henry using his airship, but changed his mind and dropped him off the airship. In "International Rescue Operative", Charles helps Henry escape by flying him off using his helicopter.[7]
