Dishonored is a yet another game shat out by Bethesda. In the game, you play as Corvo, an assassin who is falsely convicted of a murder, and therefore goes on a killing spree to prove his innocence. This game got mostly good ratings, because most of the people who review video games didn't give enough of a fuck about this unremarkable and under-hyped game.
The game relies heavily on two main themes: Stealth, and the ubiquitous and dumbass 'Moral Choice System'. In other words, Corvo has the option to either choke people unconscious and use the system against his targets, or he can be a total dick and kill everyone in his path.
Story
Dishonored is set in a steampunky Victorian London-esque city called Dunwall. You play as Corvo Attano, a silent long-haired emo who serves the Empress of Dunwall. The game begins with you arriving from a trip overseas to gather information about a plague that is tearing the city apart, a plot device that really doesn't matter in the long run. Shortly after you arrive and give the Empress the news, she gets attacked and murdered by a bunch of magical rapists wearing gasmasks. Oh yeah, and the Empress's daughter gets kidnapped. Because Corvo acts like a goddamn mongoloid and never speaks, he doesn't say anything when the castle guards show up minutes later and arrest him for murdering the Empress.
Later on, it is revealed that the Empress's advisor conspired to have the Empress murdered, and Corvo was nothing more than a scapegoat. Several months later, Corvo gets a letter in prison telling him how to escape and join a group of rebels in order to take down the Regent. After assraping his way out of prison and escaping through the sewers, he joins the rebel group known as "The Loyalists".
The Loyalists then send Corvo on a bunch of missions in which Corvo has to murder or eliminate all of the Regent's key political allies and fuckbuddies. After Corvo kills the Regent it is then revealed that SURPRISE, THE LOYALISTS WERE ONLY USING HIM TO GAIN POWER FOR ThEMSELVES AND NOW HAD NO USE FOR HIM! Just kidding, noone was surprised. After they Loyalists fail at the simple job of poisoning a man, Corvo awakens to find himself imprisoned by the same gasmask-wearing rapists who killed the Empress, who are led by a guy named Daud. After escaping Duad's lair, Corvo returns to the Loyalist base, and learns that the Loyalists have ran away like pussies to some lighthouse out in the ocean.
At this point, one of three endings can occur:
- "The Good Ending" - If Corvo has killed almost noone throughout the whole game, the final chapter is pathetically easy. All you have to do is climb to the top of a poorly-guarded lighthouse, kill Havelock (the Loyalist leader), and rescue the Empress's daughter. The epilogue then shows the plague (remember the plague? Yeah, I didn't either) being cured, families are reunited, and evryone lives happily ever after.
- "The Sort-of-Okay Ending" - If you kill a bunch of people in the game, you have to confront Havelock at the very top of the lighthouse, where he holds the princess in his arms and threatens to commit an hero by jumping off the edge. If Corvo takes out Havelock and rescues the princess, the epilogue shows the princess rising to the throne and basically ruling like Hitler and being a tyrannical bitch. The plague doesn't get cured and everything goes to shit, but noone really cares.
- "The Bad Ending" - This ending occurs when you kill a bunch of people AND you fail to save the princess after Havelock jumps off the lighthouse. In this ending, the entire Empire crumbles, and Corvo runs away on some boat after grieving over the fact that he killed a bunch of people.
Characters
Main characters
- Corvo - The player character who doesn't talk and has magical powers given to him by some emo living in space. He wears a spooky mask to hide his face, because being an assassin is srs bsns.
- Emily - The princess and heir to the throne. Does nothing for the entire plot except sit at a fucking table and draw pictures of Corvo murdering people.
- Havelock - Some old fuck who used to be part of the navy, but became a rebel after being b& from the service. He gives Corvo his missions, and then tries to kill Corvo when he is of no more use to him. He later commits an hero by jumping off a lighthouse.
- Pendleton - One of Havelock's cronies who wanders around ans spews bureaucratic jargon at everyone while taking swigs of booze from his flask. Also notable for looking like a crackhead.
- Martin - An cult member who is notable for being completely unremarkable. Most players forgot he even existed for the second half of the game because he did absolutely nothing. In the bad endings, he commits an hero after making an speech about how depressed he is and how disappointed he is in Corvo.
- 'The Outsider - A magical troll who lives in the Void and gives magical powers to people he's interested in.
Assassination Targets
- Thaddeus Campbell - The leader of a cult devoted to hating the Outsider, and has stated in his audio diary that he enjoys fucking prostitutes. He was a co-conspirator of the Empress's murder.
- Custis & Morgan Pendleton - Pendleton's evil brothers who enjoyed raping him as a child and basically being sick twisted fucks.
- Anton Sokolov - Not technically an assassination target, as he must be kept alive in order to complete the story. Has a beard that would make Gandalf jealous, and has a penchant for making shitty paintings.
- Lady Boyle - The Regent's fuckbuddy and personl cum-dump. She is one of three identical triplets, and is killed at a prty being held at her mansion. This mission has lots of potential for lulz, as it gives you a chance to murder countless innocent aristocrats.
- Hiram Burrows - The Lord Regent and conspirator against Corvo and responsible for the murder of the Empress. Dresses like a pimp, shaved like a skinhead, and has an epic Jewnose.
- Daud - The assassin responsible for killing the Empress, a subject which he has Troll's Remorse over. Has an army of assassins that do his bidding, and also has magical Outsider powers.
Powers
As mentioned above, you get to use magical powers that let you do slightly superhuman things, like:
- Blink - Teleport over a short distanc, but not through electric barriers for some reason.
