Archive of Our Own, also known as AO3, is the hip new slashfic dumping ground among new fanfic writers since FanFiction.Net is from 1998, and Wattpad is simply a piece of shit.
Archive of Our Own came into existence as a response to LiveJournal deciding to cut a shitton of groups related to pedophilia and rape, which inadvertently got a lot of the fandom related groups axed as well. The site launched in 2008, one year later, but no one really cared until the 2010s. The mods created the site in order to protect their right to host all of the ephebophilia they want and do not care what you post. This had led to the chinks who run The Great Firewall of China banning the site due to (as usual) being butthurt at the idea of freedom of expression.
Content
Because there is no male fanfic writers, all of the "stories" on the site are all about the faggy sexual misadventures of all of the tumblr sexymen and male K-pop idols you can imagine. Often, the fat femcel cunt writing all of this shit can't decide which pairing to stick to, so she then shoehorns every possible ship that strikes her fancy in a single story, or creates a long, boring, anthology filled with "chapters" that have no reason to be compiled together. In either case there is usually more tags detailing which specific pairings of characters are going to fuck than for anything else. AO3's tagging system allows for users to make a tag for basically anything they want, ensuring that there is enough unnecessary categories for hyper specific fetish concepts to put sites for hentai to shame!
All the stuff mentioned in the above paragraph inevitably leads to a PC cancel culture mob coming after the writer since she was too busy flicking her bean to realize she added something problematic to her story. Social justice waits for no one!
(In)famous Stories
- Sexy times with Wangxian [The Untamed] - This story is over 1 million words of two faggots from some moonrune show only yaoi fangirls care about having sex. Notable solely for having an author who got so butthurt about flames they decided to troll all of AO3 by exploiting that fact that there is no limit to the amount of tags that can be added on a fic by shoehorning as much fetishes, charaters, and crossovers as possible just so there could be even more tags, causing the site to lag or outright have your browser crash whenever the fic was found on search results or on a tag page. Eventually one of the gay admins removed most of the tags and forced a new policy on the site where stories can only have up to 75 tags. The writer eventually flounced off the site afterwards and is now hoarding the gigantic wall of text on Dreamwidth.
