God of War 2018 is a reboot of the original series but instead of being an Anal loving Greek, Kratos makes the long journey, from Sparta, to the far North for some White, Nordic pussy and somewhere during all this - he has a kid out of it named Loki, or rather Atreus.

Equivelant exchange or a closed circle.

The whole plot revolves around the whole idea that time is a closed circle and creatures such as the Midguardian Serpent can be sent back to before their creation and even meet their Father before they were born due to events that happen during Ragnorak or the end of the world. This, for the writers' of the game, allows the idea and believability of prophesy, fate and destiny because as everything has already happened it is meant to happen in the same way again and again.

Plot

This game takes an original route and deals with the ashes of the dead.

The plot can be summarized as, Kratos' wife dies and he makes a promise to scatter her ashes on the highest peak in all the realms of the World Tree. Before he can even set out on this journey, he is interrupted by the Norse God's who are looking for a way into Jötunheim, or the land of giants.

For the most part, the game's plot mechanics work like this Fight, Story about Odin or Norse gods, Fight, Story about Odin or Norse gods, fight . . .

The game does it's best to bastardize Norse Mythology and rewrite at every chance it gets. For instance, Magni and Modi survive Ragnorak in myth but die in the game. Tyr, in mythology is eaten by Fenrir during Ragnorak but is already dead. The only thing they do get right is Freya being Vanir and not Aesir.

Name Description Picture
Kratos The main character of the story. Makes a promise to scatter his wife's ashes on the highest point of Midgard after she dies. Known as the Ghost of Sparta after he killed his father because of being tricked by Aries. Born a Demi-god, son of Zeus and a mortal woman. His goal in the games is usually to avert disaster or change fate which makes it ironic that he is in a game where fate is a law and can not be changed. The 2018 reboot has him battling Nordic gods and monsters instead of the Greek ones he has been fighting for close to 7 or 8 games.

Atreus/Loki The whiney ass bitch that unfortunately happens to be Kratos' son and will have you wishing you had the guts to steal your grandmother's knitting needles and put them through your eardrums because when he's not whining he thinks he's better than everyone because he was born a god. Towards the end of the story he becomes likable but it's not enough to make him a likeable character on the whole. Born sick, actually the sickness he has is his mind trying to accept that he is a god because no one ever told him, and has a unparalleled skill at learning languages. Unlike most whiney characters in games he is useful as a secondary character with his bow for a quick kill when he stuns an enemy or finds health items in battle when Kratos is getting hammered in the ass. Mostly in the game for conversation and exposition as it is mostly through his conversations with Mimir that you learn about the Nordic world being portrayed in this game.
