Since the beginning of the new millennium, zombies have risen from the grave again and again to sink their teeth into everything. But these days, Hollywood and the gaming industry have defected to the undead feasting upon the remains of your wallet, you poor son of a bitch. From shows like The Walking Dead, to movies such as 28 Days Later, to video games like the once respectable Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, or to the newly The Last of Us, face it! You can't get away from the undead or the zombie enthusiasts, survivalist and 13 years olds who want a zombie apocalypse so they can show off how badass they are. Not even the pussy vampires or the faggy wizards and witches hype could out live them. Hell, they even had a movie called "Warm Bodies" which was a zombie apocalyptic Romeo and Juliet designed to appeal to Twilight-fans who were still depressed about the end of the film saga. Now I know what you're thinking.. "What the fuck does this have to do with this article?!" The answer is, "Everything!" All things add up to one fact, they come for your money and are milking the hell out of the decomposing zombies genre no matter how shitty they do the job. Example? The War Z.

If the suspense doesn't kill you, boredom will

Your money went to this. Keep telling yourself it's worth a try.
Sergey Titov aka Gay Tit.

The War Z is a new MMO that was created by Hammerpoint Interactive and produced by the Uwe Boll of gaming, Sergey Titov. The game takes place 5 years after an outbreak, wiping a majority of the worlds population turning them into zombies. The object of the game is basic, look around the map to search for items and weapons, fight zombies and other bandits to survive. Simple, right? Wrong again! The War Z is literally designed to suck your money. It's not enough that you start off with a flashlight which you're better off just running into a hoard of zombies since it takes about forever to kill just one of them. It also gives away your position to other players who will just flat out rape you and loot your corpse just for the lulz. The money sucking part starts as soon as you buy the game. Like Team Fortress 2, The War Z has a micro transaction system. You can buy hats, weapons, food, cloths, penis and breast enlargements, you know, the bare necessitates to improve your survival. This in turn means dick as you will have your ass handed to you and body looted. The War Z also has a pay to play system as well. You have to wait 1 hour for your character to respawn. You get 5 character slots. When one dies, make another and play again until the time is up. Even then, once that hour is up, all shit is gone. So the $20 you spent twinking out your character with an M16, mohawk, a jacket (that only a cool motherfucker like the Fonz would wear) is gone. Your better off deleting fucking everything to avoid the 1 hour wait. So you basically pay for a game that requires you to continues to keep paying just so you can actually play. It is an unfinished alpha, mind you.

The War Z Controversy

The War Z screams originality
OOOOOOOOH! IT'S ON!

PC gamers know about almost every game on the PC. So, if you happen to ask about Day Z, they will defiantly know and go on how Day Z is by far the best survival horror game out. Day Z isn't even a standalone title, it is actually a 2012 mod for the game, Arma 2 and it's expansion Operation Arrow Head released back in 2009. If anything boosted the sales for Arma 2, it was because of Day Z. Seriously, no one plays Arma 2 anymore, they go right ahead to Day Z. You need both game and expansion just to play this heap of shit. Shortly after Day Z gained popularity, along comes a spider by name of Hammerpoint Interactive to drop a bombshell which was The War Z. Soon, forums and erupted into all out flame wars of beta virgins raging, screaming that The War Z is cashing in on Day Z. One valid argument is that truthfully, The War Z's tittle is a blatant rip off of but not to be confused with Day Z and the critically acclaimed book, World War Z (which has also been adapted into a movie, save your money). In fact, in November, the United States Patent and Trademark Office sent a letter to Sergey Titov to suspend The War Z because of the movie World War Z. Sergey, being the troll that he is, said there are no suspension of the game even though it has been listed as suspended. Someone at USPTO hasn't been doing their job. Fans of Day Z wanted the creator to sue Hammerhead Interactive for copyright infringement, not realizing that Day Z is an unlicensed mod and isn't a standalone title. This is because it uses the Arma 2 engine. Other arguments includes The War Z having better graphics which has yet to be seen now, Day Z being more original, you know, the typical shit gamers with no social life get butthurt over. Both games are similar in a few ways.

In terms of game play both Day Z and The War Z offer..
  • Open world game play
  • MMO
  • Variety of weapons
  • Realistic survival
  • Multitude of vehicles - As of yet, none are available in The War Z, lulz is about to be had on this
  • PvP - You're going to get raped!
Both are similar in a sense that..
  • Both are unfinished alphas
  • Suffer from bugs
  • You must pay money to play them - Is it worth it to pay $30 USD to buy Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead just to play Day Z or is paying $15 for The War Z plus more to buy weapons?
  • Slow paced
  • Boring as fuck
  • Not noob friendly

Sergey Jerkov is a homophobe

On October 2012, Sergey Jerkov began posting on the official War Z forums and tried to be a pretty cool guy. He referred to to all spawn campers who troll on the servers as faggots. Now, in retrospect, spawn campers in any games are faggots. If done correctly, trolls camp spawn points and ambush opponents when they respawn. The War Z is a Mecca for spawn campers and trolls of all walks of life. A representative for Hammerpoint Interactive acknowledged that Sergey Jerkov's remark was a inappropriate and stated that he doesn't have anything against faggots.

The Shit Storm Z

Bodies of dead players who actually bought and played this game are removed from their basements. Cause of death ranges from boredom or an hero from realizing hours of their lives have been stolen yet again.

On October 2012, The War Z made it's debut on Steam as a closed beta. It was released on Steam and claimed to have features such as multiple large game world that varied in size, a skill point based leveling system, player versus environment combat, hundred-player servers and private servers. Once purchased, players soon learned that The War Z failed to live up to its promises. Steam forums were flooded with rage as gamers accused Hammerpoint Interactive of fraud. Furthermore, players complained that the map was smaller than promised. Sergey Titov denied this until PCGamesN.com analyzed the map and determined it was 90% smaller than claimed. After this he shrugged it off and stated gamers misread the information. Additionally he encouraged people to purchase The War Z from the official company website rather than Steam, claiming Steam was planning to increase prices soon. Anyone who spoke out against the game was threatened with the ban hammer. Valve soon pulled The War Z off Steam and offered a refund to the unfortunate ones who payed for this Day Z clone only to put it back on 2 months later.

On June 19, 2013, Hammerpoint Productions and OP Productions announced that The War Z game and forums were changed from The War Z to Infestation: Survivor Stories, a half-assed excuse for an original name, as it would seem that this change came from a court order.

Effective today, The War Z has changed its name to Infestation: Survivor Stories. This change has come about primarily as a result of some confusion and trademark issues with a similarly titled property. While we were reluctant to rename the game so long after launch, especially with nearly 1 million registered players, it was ultimately decided to be in the best interest of our existing community as well as future players in order to eliminate confusion. Please rest assured that this will in NO WAY affect you as players. The only difference you will see is the change in logo and website. There will be no interruption of service or change in content.

So, welcome to Infestation: Survivor Stories – have fun and stay alive!

On April 2, 2013, OP Productions announced that The War Z game and forums had been taken offline as "hackers gained access to our forum and game databases and the player data in those databases." Hackers gained access to user information such as email addresses, character names, IP addresses, and encrypted passwords. No payment information was stolen, though it was noted that simple passwords would not be hard to extract from the stolen data. OP Productions later confirmed that hackers gained access to several administrator accounts resulting in deletion of the forums database as well as the banning of "several dozens" of players.
