Basileus
—Basileus' un-Christian justification for his attack pieces, File:MetapediaTalkJoshuaMilburn.png |
Basileus (alleged surname: Gentile) is an European, anti-Semitic, fascist, Wikipedia sockpuppeteer, and a disgraced, former Metapedia sysop. At Metapedia, he or she used to write hit pieces on Jewish people and those who crusade against hate. Of his or her many Wikipedia accounts, Daddy Kindsoul (previously Deathrocker), Yorkshirian, and Gennarous (previously Animagentile) were the most prolific.
Overview
Basileus is an "underground" Catholic, a traditionalist, a Unionist, and a monarchist (i.e. a Tory). As a Unionist Tory, Basileus doesn't believe in the legitimacy of Welsh or Cornish nationalism and opposes separatism and republicanism within the UK. Basileus also possesses a deep hatred of Communists, socialists, liberals, Freemasons, Muslims / Pakistanis, and Jewish people. He or she tends to blame these groups for Europe's issues and also tends to believe in wild conspiracy theories. Basileus is also a apologist and sympathizer for fascist and right-wing nationalist groups outside of the UK, such as Greece's Golden Dawn party. Basileus also opposes immigration and multiculturalism.
Basileus possesses Italian ancestry and an affinity towards Italian fascism and football. Basileus also claims to possess Irish ancestry, but he or she doesn't hold any affinity toward Irish republicanism, since he considers Irish republicanism to be corrupted by socialism.
Although Basileus initially joined Wikipedia as the heavy metal enthusiast "Deathrocker", by 2007, Basileus was distancing him- or herself away from heavy metal, and by 2008 he or she was labelling heavy metal fans as "neanderthal[s]" and "thug[s]". During the last few months of 2013, Basileus' Metapedia userpage contains a disparaging quote about rock fans. Even so, Basileus has contributed his knowledge of "Nazi Black Metal" to Metapedia. Basileus is most likely a self-hating former black metal fan.
History
Moar info: Basileus/Wikipedia.
Basileus joined Wikipedia in 2005 as "Deathrocker". He initially edited articles on heavy metal but later turned his or her attention towards football. After a series of disputes and blocks, Basileus began creating sockpuppets and transformed from "Deathrocker" / "Daddy Kindsoul" to "Yorkshirian" (forused on Yorkshire) and "Animagentile" / "Gennarous" (focused on Italy and fascism). When "Gennarous" was blocked, the "Yorkshirian" account picked up the blatant pro-fascist traits of the "Gennarous" account, and in March 2010, become permanently banned from Wikipedia.
Around 21 hours after being banned from Wikipedia, Basileus joined Metapedia. Basileus fit into his or her new environment nicely and didn't made any attempt to have the "Yorkshirian" account become unbanned. Basileus revealed his or her Wikipedia account with his or her early Metapedia contributions:
England
Hi Hu1, can you unprotect the article on England? I made it a GA on Wikipedia before I was banned there and wanted to upload the new version here. - Basileus 12:03, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Who nominated Wikpedia's "England" article for "Good article" status? Yorkshirian. Who worked tirelessly to promote the "England" article to "Good article" status? Yorkshirian. Basileus also overwrote Metapedia's "British National Party" article with the practically the same version that Yorkshirian was pushing at Wikipedia. Basileus and Yorkshirian also shared many of the same beefs (see the section below).
In May 2010, Aurvandil granted Basileus sysop rights at NatAll75's insistence, and in February 2011, NatAll75 granted Basileus bureaucrat rights.
In August 2014, Basileus created an article on revisionist Veronica Clark, who Basileus apparently and misguidedly admired somewhat. In order to embellish the article, Basileus uploaded a photo of Clark onto the wiki.
In September 2014, Veronica Clark apparently discovered her Metapedia, disapproved of how Basileus portrayed her, and send a complaint to Metapedia as a result:
I am fully aware of the Metapedia page about me and it is nasty and biased, suggesting that I am abnormal and it is mocking of some of my work.
Yes, it is copyrighted and forbidden. I only authorize certain sites to post my picture. 'Mourning the Ancient' is one of them. Metapedia does not have my permission to post any of my photos.
Thank you for asking.
Aurvandil responded by deleting the image.
Fortunately, Basileus didn't learn from this, and on November 12, 2014, upload a new photo of Clark onto the wiki. This time, not only did Aurvandil delete the image, he also blocked Basileus from Metapedia for three months.
On November 22, 2014, "Krom", who apparently had read this article, published a complaint about Basileus and his hit pieces at nordisk.nu, where Metapedia's Swedish overlords hang out and jabber. Aurvandil read the thread, deleted two of Basileus' hit pieces, and desysopped Basileus. Several hous later, Upplysning deleted several more of Basileus' hit pieces. On November 27th, Upplysning permabanned Basileus from Metapedia.
The beefs
Will Beback
On October 14, 2010, Basileus wrote his or her first Wikipedian-related Metapedia hit piece, and its subject was "Will Beback". Yorkshirian and Will Beback had a dispute about whether Wikipedia should describe the John Birch Society as "far right" or simply "right-wing". When Beback requested mediation on the subject, he listed "Yorkshirian" as a party to the case. During the March 2010 ANI discussion, Beback was one of the users who supported banning Yorkshirian from Wikipedia. In April 2010, Will Beback helped Wikipedia uncover some of Basileus' latest sockpuppets.
On November 23, 2014, Aurvandil desysopped Basileus, and Upplysning deleted the article on Will Beback.
Cberlet
Several days after creating the article on Will Beback, Basileus created Metapedia's "Chip Berlet" article. Basileus, under his "Gennarous" handle, clashed with Berlet on Wikipedia. Basileus accused Berlet of being a "far-left Hoxharian propagandist" and accused "Bobisbob" of being Berlet's sockpuppet. In his or her Metapedia article, Basileus accuses "The_Four_Deuces" of being Berlet's present Wikipedia account. It is believed that Basileus (under the pseudonym "Yorkshirian") made the same claim on Wikipedia several days before becoming banned. Several months earlier, Basileus anonymously attempted to manipulate Berlet's Wikipedia article.
Snowded
In June 2013, Basileus created an article on his old enemy Snowded. Basileus and Snowded clashed several times in the 2009 and 2010 ([3], [4], [5], [6]), and the conflict between them climaxed in February and March 2010. Just as Basileus belittled Snowded's Welsh-hood on Wikipedia, he or she did the same on Metapedia by claiming that Snowded only "pretends to be Welsh" in the Metapedia article. During the March 2010 ANI discussion, Snowded opposed banning Basileus / Yorkshirian due to his pragmatic reasoning.
Snowded also seems to be amused by Basileus' lolcow-like eccentricities:

On November 23, 2014, Aurvandil deleted Basileus' article on Snowded and desysopped Basileus.
J Milburn
In February 2013, Basileus created an article on "J Milburn". A few days earlier, J Milburn created Wikipedia's "British Democratic Party (2013)" article. The article quickly drew the attention of BDP members, including the party's founder John Bean. Basileus created the Metapedia article on Milburn in retaliation:
[…] Milburn […] is a Europhobic propagandist […]. He is notable for his activities on Wikipedia (where he is an admin), propagandising against national liberation parties in British politics; he is soley responsible for the bias nature of the British Democratic Party article, which uses communists as a source.
When Milburn politely asked for the article to taken down, Basileus posted the following response:
Exactly. If he gets the smear article deleted from Wikipedia or removes the partisan sources from open communists he added to have a politically neutral one instead, then we can delete this one here. But until then no. He clearly isn't stupid and knows exactly what he was doing. This isn't a game, but a struggle for the very existence of peoples and those who stand up for them. When the enemy tries to undermine the presentation of nationalism to the public, the correct response isn't to just smile and take it, but to swing a punch back and drag them down too. Basileus 23:08, 7 August 2013 (CEST)
On January 23, 2014, Basileus deleted Metapedia's article on Milburn, claiming that "[Wikipedia's 'British Democratic Party (2013)'] article is now non-bias". When questioned about the deletion, Basileus offered the following explanation:
The article about the party on Wikipedia is not as bias now. The biggest troll effecting it is this user called Emeraude, who is adding the bias "further reading" from communists/Jews (this conspirator would need further research). As far as I can tell this character has now backed off attacking national groups. If they start again it can be undeleted anyway. Basileus 00:36, 24 January 2014 (CET)
Prior to the deletion of Metapedia's "Joshua Milburn" article (and bit afterwards as well), Emeraude was engaged in an edit war over Wikipedia's "British Democratic Party (2013)" article and its "Further reading" section with an user called "Truenature12", suggesting that Basileus is either "Truenature12" or is watching the article like a hawk.
Orangemike
In April 23, 2013, Basileus created an article on "Orangemike". On that very same day, Basileus disclosed his motivations for creating the article to Julius_A:
I have created an article on the communist Wikipedia admin Orange Mike to humiliate and expose him for his attacks on the AFP [American Freedom Party] Wikipedia article. Basileus 17:00, 23 April 2013 (CEST)
Pope Francis
As a Catholic traditionalist and fascist, Basileus hates compassionate champion of the poor from Argentina (as opposed to Europe) Pope Francis. Basileus doesn't recognize Pope Francis' legitimacy and calls Francis an "Ant-Pope" and a "clown". Basileus is the creator of Metapedia's article on the Pope and well as its main contributor. Despite having a relatively short reign so far, Metapedia's article on Pope Francis is nearly twice as large as Metapedia's article on Pope Benedict XVI and over three times as large as Metapedia's article on Pope John Paul II. In January 2014, Basileus added a "How to punish this clown" section to the article.
