Jackie Coakley or Jacqueline Coakley lied about being raped in order to get attention and sympathy, which is not in itself noteworthy as women do this all the fucking time. She however, took it a step further and whored herself out to ropey reporter Sabrina Erdely of Rolling Stone, a piece of shit magazine that is desperately trying to cling unto whatever relevance and edginess it might've had in 1985, so they have decided to take the social justice route in a sad last ditch effort to get recognition like the old media shills they are.

But the warning signs were there all along. Perhaps Jacqueline actually chose to speak to Erdely because of her past history with Rolling Stone.

You see, just three years earlier Erdely had fallen for another fake sex abuse scandal, this one involving a proven fantasist who claimed to be the victim of a paedophile ring. Four people were wrongly convicted and one of them (an elderly priest) subsequently died in prison, protesting to the last that he was innocent, handcuffed to the steel frame of his bed.

Somehow, Rolling Stone got away with publishing this shock-horror garbage, and Sabrina Erdely managed to keep her job. So you would have thought they would look very carefully at any similar sensational stories she filed, wouldn't you?

All reporters make mistakes. That's why "corrections and clarifications" columns exist. However, the mistake in this case extended to not actually bothering to contact the men that Jacqueline was accusing to get their version of events. This is the journalistic equivalent of having a court case in which only the prosecution speaks. And boy, did it speak.

Erdely brought home her "story", the editor signed it off, the presses rolled, the news vendors took delivery, people opened the latest issue of the magazine, the shocking story got immediate national media coverage... and then it all went horribly wrong.

The Silent Voice

She sat alone at the busy lunch table,
But no one would notice her, for she was learning disabled.

The friendship, love and respect we've found,
Are words we feel that have no sound.
Her silent voice now speaks to those
Who at first shunned her and chose to close
Their hearts to this special girl,
Whose life has touched this sacred world.
