Popcorn.gif is a mild trolling technique used to highlight drama and a faggotry in a forum or journal comment thread. The would-be troll posts an animated gif from a TV show, movie etc of someone eating popcorn.

Origins

As with all retarded memes, this one appears to be another gem from Jameth's LiveJournal, in which someone responded to a suspenseful post with an animated gif of Michael Jackson eating popcorn and smiling creepily.
