There is no reason why there can't be more articles listed in the BNA Portal

That was my bad. Nobody was updating the BNA list in the portal so I replaced it with Main Page/BNA. That way every time a bad new article were made, only Main Page/BNA has to be updated, as opposed to both Main Page/BNA and Portal:BNA. -Gray 19:30, 3 February 2013 (EST)

Portal list on the left side

Back in the day, before the giant landwhale tried to destroy ED, we had a fancy list of portals / sections on the left side, right below the search bar. It really helped a lot with moving through ED, especially if you looked for DeviantArt and Gaming stuff. So why don't we have those shortcuts anymore? They were really good. I'm curious about how much traffic ED gets on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, and how the stats have changed over time. Glancing at ED, I see we have no Anne Frank page, since it redirects to Jews. Does anyone else think an Anne Frank page would be worthwhile? Yeah archiving tools/addons/etc are really, REALLY handy, especially since a lot of kooks/subjects will panic and "baleet fucking everything" at the first sign of being baited, so it helps to have ways to archive all their stuff as quickly as possible.
There should be a "video" section added into all that as well, with some links to tools like "KeepVid" for archiving video clips from YouTube and the like.
The "help files" in general could use some expansion/detail/revision, especially given all the new social media forms/sites and media types available. I've been trying to do some editing/updating in my spare time, but it's pretty slow going with so much other stuff going on as well. It would be nice to get some others working on it too though, especially to give it a more general tone. My typing/writing style kinda sticks out like a sore thumb, so if I'm the only one working on some article it kinda winds up reading like a blog entry I wrote or something.

KYM ED page suggestions

I recently signed up for KYM to edit the ED page to reflect the split between the original ED community at ED.com(which is now here at ED.se) and those who betrayed the ED community to form the abomination we know all too well today. I am going to acknowledge both of the sites' existence only because of the fact that (1. noone vists OhI anyway so there's no threat in mentioning it, and (2. I wasn't sure if I'd get editorship for it if I didn't. Curently it claims that ED turned into OhI, but I am going to rewrite it so that it basiclly tells readers that ED is still alive and well at ED.se, and that the community split. I got Weev added as a related article, and tried to get Cigarsex added.

In addition I am going to add a section on the controversy over the Aboriginal article, Bullet to the Head of the NRA, and ED in general.

Please note that editing the article on ED is the only reason I signed up there!!! I would never betray ED, and am only doing this to help spread the good word about ED.

It'll probably reach the point where they dump her in favor of relying on free work via regular users and automated bots just to save a buck or two. I don't think she was ever very suited towards handling volatile Internet culture in general. Death threats, wanton attacks, slander, libel and frothing hatred are simply a byproduct of the overall game and you shouldn't play unless you know full well what it is you're getting into and know that it won't bother or affect you on any meaningful level in the real world. As I mentioned in the Aboriginal talk page, ED was never banned here in Australia. There was a leaked blacklist supposedly originating from the gov, which was meaningless, and the page was removed from Google search. Sony 'unveiled' the PS4 today, and basically used a bunch of smoke and mirrors to obscure the that at no point were we shown an actual PS4.

flushing duplicate/unused files

Why are the unused duplicate files being flushed? Some of them may go to a page(s) that hasn't been restored yet....-- Talk to me|Contribs 11:49, 22 February 2013 (EST)

They don't go anywhere, they're unused DUPLICATES, not simply unused files. Also, the only ones I'm flushing are the "whatrumors.com" SPAM images and the "300" duplicate images. Apparently at one point some jackass got the incredibly brilliant idea to copy the ENTIRE "300" gallery and reuploaded the entire mess with RENAMED FILES! *epic face palm*

Awww crap! I think the same thing happened to the Zinedine Zidane article, I won't know for certain though until I start checking through, but I've seen at least 20 or 30 unused Zidane files so far, so I doubt it's coincidence, they're probably all replicants from the gallery.

I think I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the entire 300 gallery. It's not like they just picked random files, they literally made a complete duplication of the WHOLE freakin album and then renamed EVERY single file! Each one has to be manually checked too, because some of the ones in the current article are thumbnails, so then the two have to be swapped out. Pain...in...the...ass! But, on a big upnote, it should seriously cleanup the unused files section.
I'm also working on restructuring potential lost articles from the unused images while I'm at it. Like the Recursion article for example, there's a bunch of unused image content for it, so I'm working on compiling "like content" together in list form that I can make some temporary galleries out of. --Onideus 12:57, 22 February 2013 (EST)

Not a whole lot in general I would say, plus it's not like they're using any bandwidth, mostly it's important just as far as relieving file clutter and "keeping house" as it were. ED Is The New Image-Shack (and probably has been for a number of years)

I've been noticing a *LOT* of brand new users who are just...uploading completely random images...like one or two of them...and then they just leave and never come back. They don't ever add them to articles, they're immediately thrown into the "unused files" section and 10 to 1 says they're being hot-linked to offsite. I'm thinking that ED could probably save a whole epic ton of money on bandwidth costs if there was someway to correlate server access logs in conjunction with the "unused files" data. Like setup a script where in, if a particular "unused file" was posted say...longer than three days ago and was likewise being hot-linked to and was likewise uploaded by a new users, then it would be automatically flushed from the server. --Onideus 19:43, 22 February 2013 (EST)

I was thinkin about creating a new article though specifically ~for~ bacon, the food itself, mostly using all the material I've got in nyah:

If you feel an entire article can be made about bacon, I doubt anyone will stop you from writing it. As for the name, I'd go simply with "Bacon" but it's your article, you may name it however you'd like. The subsection thing sounds good too, but you'll need more foods to make subsections of, and most notable foods already got their own articles. -Gray 03:07, 2 March 2013 (EST)
Well, bacon is like uber popular online right now, there's a whole freakin slew of FB groups, articles and tons of bacon related products being churned out at the current moment (hence the 100+ picture album). Not exactly sure why it's become so popular as of late, I mean obviously it ~tastes~ freakin awesome, but I dunno, some of the products they're makin are pretty squirrely. Especially the bacon flavored baby formula. I thought it was a joke when I first saw it, but after looking into it...nope, it's actually for real. o_O

Took me long enough, but I got all teh image content uploaded and using the WhatPort80 version Crack Rabbit restored as a base I was able to roll it right on out in less than a day! Could still use some polishing up all around, but it's basically good to go. A nice shiny new article! :D
