the conversation never got past arguing about how stupid and gay the game should be.

if i do a project i go balls deep, but for me to make that commitment i have to be in love with the idea.

my interest was never piqued because it was more of a forum circle jerk than a true ED game.

we have this whole world of freaks and hot topics, endless characters and dialogue...

it could be something very desirable to a wide audience...

but im not interested in devoting my time to recreating a 200 page messy jessy thread game.

i think the world and bosses should be ED article folks and the towns people should be from the forum.

but if im to dedicate my time to the idea it has to have a good idea and dedicated members.

a blood pact may be necessary because if i get really into it and everybody quits, heads will roll.

like all the worlds of all these characters get smashed together into one and the fabric of the cosmos is on the danger of collapse.

this would lead to fantastic character interaction between different weirdos the wiki has articles about.

a hardcore minigame where you eat pills and try to kill yourself on webcam would be super fresh

Here's a plot I suggest:
many ED members are trying to resurrect zaiger by going and collecting 7 fag medallions by doing so they can finally see their leader... buuuuut many lolcows and asspies are gonna try to stop them, and chris-chan should be the final boss cuz I don't think there's a better person fit for the role.

ah I got another idea, you have to complete all the sidequests to fight the secret final boss "nightmare", why?
because nightmare will approve of your faggotry and challenge you to clear his dungeon(HARDEST ONE ON THE GAME) and fight him in the end, if you defeat him everything will go back to the way it was, zaiger is alive and not evil, E isn't some hitler kinda leader, and ED will go back to normal, but if you don't didn't complete all the sidequests and beat the game then you might have saved ED but E and zaiger are dead and there is still some people who aren't letting the civil war go away from their mind.

also I think the reason why E was evil was because she was being possessed by nightmare to do what he says, and zaiger supported E because he too was possessed.

and also, after zaiger gets resurrected he will tell you he tried to go and fight nginx with E but they both lost, zaiger died and E escaped, he said that nginx has the ability to posses people( which explains why E became evil ), and then zaiger get's possessed and he defeats you easily.

ps: I still think you need to complete all sidequests in order to reach nginx.

    I have an idea of nginx, how about we make him absorb people mid-way during the battle to power him up; it shifts to a cutscene where he absorbs some members by expanding his anti-lulz wave which is insanely huge to the point it reaches the edge of the world map and then he pulls them inside him to make him stronger (the members are not the playable party members, to make it simple he basically absorbs the ED members who are away from the battlefield). He does it three times so you're gonna have to fight him more than once :D,and to make sure people understood it perfectly; in each wave he absorbs a GROUP of members not just one. But he accidentally absorbs something in the fourth wave that he's not compatible with and then he get's destroyed by it.
    So in other words you have to activate this thing which is hidden secretly before engaging the dungeon so he can absorb it and destroys himself by accident, otherwise you can kiss your chances of beating nginx goodbye. ( you can still go and activate it by leaving the dungeon before fighting the boss )

    what is the thing he's not compatible with?
    I'm thinking cloudflare 

    The switch which is cloudflare will kill nginx once he absorbs it, and that's in the fourth wave when he absorbs people, but you don't get to fight him in the fourth wave, if you don't activate cloudflare before the battle you die, but if you activated it before the battle he dies and then he releases the members he absorbed, plus zaiger and E gets revived and are no longer possessed by him, and then everything go back to normal.

    it goes like this in the difficulty:
    1st wave: normal
    2nd wave: fucking hardcore
    3rd wave: YOU'RE FUCKED
    4th wave: lol nginx got so powerful you die without having to fight him (unless you activated cloudflare)

now for the beginning of the game the character newfag will be on a typical first town, but then he sees that the E army soldiers has attacked it and you have to defend it.
the so called E's soldiers will be just 4 grunts and you can defeat them easily.

ideas for facebook village hmmm...
you can make mark zuckerberg the mayor of the town, and the reason why the brony army can't attack the village is because he's a fucking jew who sells the private information of people living in his town to the bronies.

but after you talk with oldfag and learn of the seven medallions you can come back to facebook village and talk to an npc who has had enough of mark's bullshit and asks you to take him down, this can be a sidequest if you want.

Plot: In AD 2101 War was beginning... Nope. Nothing too cliche, nothing too try-fool-hardy either. A dilemma. Perhaps it will be about the true masters of the Internet. Alternate endings. Who will defeat the final boss of the internet and rule the nets? Defeat faction after faction in countries called forums. At least one town of sorts and a dungeon in each. Weird internet space between them (i.e. forests and assorted generic landscape with exceptions to secret dungeons and such), where you find regular monsters, and sometimes rare ones.

Ideas on the Medallions (i.e. plot devices)

"Medallions should reflect something humorous, but no so much, that it draws away from the minimal seriousness, I think a story should reflect. Seven primary elements of the internet as seen through the eyes of ED. 

1.''' ??''' (Suggestions: Weeaboo something. This medallion could reflect the obsessed aspect of the "Japan is great" people. Perhaps the dungeon could be manga/anime themed or a weaboo convention. The Medallion could be a Dragon Ball? (Something else?)
2. '''Chris Chan and his Sonichu medallion.''' I'd image that getting this medallion will venture through the seemingly-autisic-strange-furry side of the internets. Otherkins, furries nazifurs, vampire wannabes and the like. This was a good choice, in my opinion.
3.'''Anonymous''' Certainly anonymous means a lot of things these days from the early days of back-handed trolling, to the feminist, anti-scientology activists. Still have to think on this one. Perhaps the medallion is a barrel of gunpowder?
4. '''Preston''': Good a reflection of the everyone can be an artist mentality prevalent in sites such as DeviantArt. Not only in imagery, but also would-be singers and hipsters. Dungeon could be a museum of horrible art. With horrible creations come to life as monsters. Medallion could be a true masterpiece of art.
5. '''Golden Ipod''' Thought it fitted well with the other concepts. It ties together both an heroes and school shooters, bombers etc.
6. Something about Old Media, IRL and its influence on the nets. Could throw in Al Gore, Internet law such as CISPA and other stuff. Feminism, Racism, Gays, Jews; all those topics should be covered by this.
7. I'll need to think on the possibilities.

Hm. I thought of some very annoying elements we could include.
a) A dungeon the loops both horizontically and vertically. You can only get out after taking X steps.
b) Have a locked door in a dungeon. Put the key far away. Have an enemy that steals the key if you haven't beaten it in X turns. If the key is stolen, it simply respawns to its original position.
c) Make fucking teleports. Everywhere you step, you'll be teleported elsewhere. Very annoying.
d) Have enemies that steal a healing item, then flee.
e) Make some enemies have 1-hit-kill skills that they rarely use. (This way it'll be a surprise at first, then the player will be agitated when the next random death's gonna come.) 

For harder gameplay:
*Inns don't revive.
*Every potion has reasonable price, but a revive potion costs much, much more.
*Revive skill takes away hundreds of MP.
*Enemies spam revive near the end.

Just the skeleton. Here's what we're looking at so far.

Zaiger is dead/missing/something, E and his pony army are taking over the world.
- Sidequest, resurrect Zaiger which turns into a fight because he's actually working with E.
- Free Ryan Cleary from jail and he becomes playable character
- Meep is a mad scientist building an army of BMOs
- There are 7 medallions which need to be obtained from lolcows like Chrischan and Preston.

It's developing nicely. Still need more content and structure.

I'd like to start panning out some ideas for the introduction.

An idea I had was for a cast of revolving playable characters. Start the game with "Newfag" "Summerfag" and two others (I'm drawing a blank right now as a just woke up) and either have them killed or replaced with more permanent characters throughout the course of the game.

We need ideas on setting, direction, etc for Chapter 1. Basically the whole "where what who why when" needs to be decided before production can start.

I'm gonna have to vote against this. First impressions are important, and if ours is that of just ripping off an entire map from another game that's going to make our piss look weak.

What we need is a town, at night, with fucking fire everywhere. Kinda like Vector from FF6 after the esper attack.

Also we need charsets and facesets for the starting characters. Battlesets too but that can come later once we start building on the battle system.

We still have to decide who the starting characters are. So far we got you start as one person, "newfag", who goes through the burning city and finds the rest of his party. But who are the rest?

How about:

Oldfag
Summerfag
Camwhore

Could make some entertaining dialog with that setup.

Idea I had regarding Ryan subquest:

Ryan is obtained as a playable character by breaking him out of jail. This needs to be interlaced with receiving one of the 7 medallions, in this case - the Anon Medallion - because Anon is ran by the FBI. This should be one of the earlier quests, maybe the 2nd or 3rd.

Running down our storyline so far..

Game starts at burning town. You are newfag. Scavage the town to find the rest of your party. ???? PROFIT

Zaiger is missing. Collect 7 medallions to summon him.

Along the way E's possessed pony army is taking over the world and chasing your party down. Also along the way you learn of Nginx. Eventually you summon Zaiger and find out he's possessed. Fight with Nginx and have cutscenes as Milwin described, break the possession off both Zaiger and E.

After that you can have the final final battle with Zaiger and E as playable characters

Also, Lil B becomes a playable character for this subquest. He disbands the party after the medallion is retrieved, at which point Weev becomes a permanent party member.

I'm on the fence about Weev being a party member but I think it fits well alongside Cleary because they're both ED names which made headlines.

Here's some thoughts on chapter 1.

Game starts as "Newfag". Your village has been destroyed by a 500 Error. Not only that, bronies are rounding up all the civilians and enslaving them. You must escape, and make way to the next town, "Facebook", where you meet up with Camwhore and Casual. They are generally clueless and convince you to follow them to the Cave of 1.0 where you meet up with Oldfag. Oldfag is very knowledgeable and tells the story of how E and the Pony Regime has been wiping villages off the map. He tells you of the 7 medallions. And from there the adventure begins to find the first medallion.

All four of these characters will eventually be replaced as the story progresses. Like a revolving door until the final cast is set, somewhere along the 6th medallion.

Also, a checklist of things which need to be made:

Battle sprites/charsets/facesets for Newfag, Oldfag, Camwhore, and Casual.
Map of a destroyed village.
Map of a facebook village.
Map of a Web 1.0 Cave
Monster sprites for a weak level 1 pony army enemy.
Random encounters within the 1.0 Cave

I think that covers it. None of this is set in stone so if someone has a better idea, we'll utilize that instead.

What should the first medallion be?

Alright here's what we're looking at so far with the Medallions.

2) ChrisChan Medallion - furry shit, sonic fandom, etc
3) Anon Medallion - social justice, FBI, etc
4) Preston Medallion - gaming, comics, unfunny, etc
5) GNAA Medallion - trolling, gay niggers, etc
6) Golden IPod Medallion - suicide, spree killers, etc
7) ???

The 7th Medallion should be pony related because a large part of the plot centers around bronies gunning for world domination.

As for what imagery is used for the medallions, whatevers clever. Something relevant to it obviously. Anon Medallion should look like a Gay Fucks mask, Golden IPod self explanatory, GNAA a trollface or Lil B coin. The rest are a tossup. Preston medallion could be an inflated doll with giant tits/ass.

First order of business is to make battlesprites and charsets for Newfag, Oldfag, Casual, and Camwhore. Most likely I'll just end up using CharaProject for this and possibly make some minor modifications if necessary.

So far Chapter 1 looks like this:

- You are newfag.
- Your town has been raped and pillaged by bronies.
- You manage to escape and make your way to Facebook Village
- You meet Camwhore and Casual who decide to join you
- The party ventures of the Cave of 1.0 where you meet Oldfag
- Oldfag tells of the 7 Medallions and the Pony Empire raiding villages
- End of Chapter 1

If anyone can expand on any of those bulletpoints, please do. The more details we have, the better.

@Chorvaqueen is generous enough to provide facesets for the characters, and @Linkermann has stated he has a map or tileset which can be used to make the raided village (which still needs a name).

After we get that down we can start working on maps for both. I think the Facebook Village will require some customization but the cave could just be a standard cave with a few Web 1.0 touches thrown in.

Once we finish with that we will create random enemy encounters for the cave. Also @ge5undhe17 said he could provide battle sprites for the ponys in the initial raid. All we need is one or two, weak looking if possible as they are only level 1 enemies.

My guess is this will take 1 week to finish. We'll see how it goes.

Instead of having a Cave of 1.0 as the first dungeon, taking down Zuckerberg could be the first task. Upon defeating him, you receive a key to unlock a basement and find Oldfag - at which point you learn of the Medallions.

The first dungeon could be the Facebook Data Retention Center. 


Facebook could be broken into three parts.

- The village, a farmville clone
- The Data Retention Center, a huge server cache with random enemy encounters
- Zuckerberg HQ, a Jewish Temple where you fight him for the basement key
