Title: YAY! I finally found happiness! Post by: Angel-Meiru on November 04, 2007, 01:01:58 AM Here's an artsite I really like (NOTE: Most of my contents is for ADULTS ONLY, no one under 18 shall look):

http://www.furaffinity.net http://www.furaffinity.net/user/angelmeiru/

Even though alot of the art is furry art, but there's also some that isn't furry art too. BTW, three recent pictures I submitted today don't look anime like at all. I'm taking Metroid Star's advice and broadening my horizons. Sure, I whined and moaned for a little bit, but I'm over it. I finally found happiness.

See, I'm taking advice and I'm trying as hard as I can not to let my disabillities get the best of me. I promise to improve everyday.

Thank you.

What you need is a community devoted entirely to criticism and improvement. FA is pretty much DA except... with Furry Porn. *Shudder.* An art class, or Concept Art are probably your best choices. But I warn you, Concept Art will be merciless.

I'm not trying to be Leonardo DaVinci or Michaelangelo, I just want to share my stuff. And yes, I enjoy making hentai/adult cartoons, DEAL WITH IT!

Actually, I do go to concept art, but I share my dolls that I make on there with people. BTW. Concept art doesn't allow hentai or smutty drawings on their site.

Title: Re: YAY! I finally found happiness! Post by: Metroid-Star890 on November 04, 2007, 01:45:50 AM Then draw something else! I enjoy drawing Cartoons, sci-fi, and more Japanese influenced stuff, but I also draw Direct observation, I work in charcoal and pastel, conti, and a variety of shit I don't think I'd ever use professionally. But I do use it, I do it so I have a better understanding of art in general! Stop drawing anime, Furry, and do the basics that every great artist HAS TO LEARN, you might even find you love drawing something else! You might change your whole artistic outlook and style! If you truly love art, then abandon this stuff and start over from the top! Talk to other professional artists, share your non-[Hentai]] drawings, and LOVE IT when then tear it to shreds! Because with each tear you're going to become bigger and better! Within these circle-jerk communities you'll find only stagnation and filth! Shed FA and DA before Anonymous decides to add another whining weeaboo to it's collection of victims!

Title: Re: YAY! I finally found happiness! Post by: Tasty Beverage on November 04, 2007, 01:59:59 AM Apparently standards have come down since I was into art. See, when I looked for a place to present my art, I looked for the harshest critics with the least bias so I could, you know, improve myself. See, it is very bad when you receive NO criticism. Your art is not now and never will be perfect, so if you don't get criticism, you're showing off to a bunch of ninnies who don't know the first thing about expressive mediums.

Everyone who likes to call themselves an artist needs to be seeking out criticism and facing their flaws, not avoiding them and getting angry about it.

As for your drawings, it's all been said before. You started at the end instead of the beginning. You need to study anatomy and learn some real techniques. I learned a few things through two techniques:

First, find an old renaissance painting or drawing and replicate it BY HAND. Not on the computer, BY HAND. CG art is meant to simulate and improve upon physical art, by skipping the physical aspects all together you are effectively dooming yourself, you will have to go there eventually.

Second, pick up a camera and go out on the street. Photograph everything you see. If you want to learn how to draw buildings, take multiple angles of a building. If you want to learn how to draw people, take photos of people when they don't know you're there so as to get a truly natural feel. Then go home and draw/paint what you see.

Third, pick up a few books on anatomy and seriously study every single aspect of the human body. Among the most important are the muscle structures, namely on the face. The key to showing emotion is to know where the muscles are and how they move, not to make an eye wider and cock an eyebrow. Study wrinkles in the face, movements of hair, everything. Absolutely everything. Note that real women don't have tits the size of zeppelins.

Until then, your work will not improve. I don't give a shit what the weeaboos on a bestiality site say, they're wrong and all they do is wank at their cat.

Title: Re: YAY! I finally found happiness! Post by: Vin Diesel on November 04, 2007, 01:02:18 AM Second technique is considered stalking.

Not if it's just some Joe off the street. If you follow somebody home, you're a creep. But if you're on the street just taking pictures of shit, you're a tourist at worst.

I'm going to trust that the actual furries I know have a bit more knowledge on the furry fandom than people on this forum.

How's this for you:

Bestiality is sex with an animal.

Furries are people who are interested in some way in anthropomorphized creatures, which are, in fact, categorized as people.

If you recall, there were furries bitching out someone on this forum who supported bestiality, explaining why bestiality was not involved in the furry fandom. Which, of course, won't matter to you. Not to be rude, but your brain is decidedly made out of concrete.

Pretty much all that can be said about the issue of furries and sex. I got into the furry scene for the art (which I cannot do, but I have an appreciation for artists who are good) and for making friends. Sex isn't as important as stereotyped in the community.

Furry is not an equivalent to bestiality at all. I know tons of furs who don't support it.

If you recall, there were furries bitching out someone on this forum who supported bestiality, explaining why bestiality was not involved in the furry fandom. Which, of course, won't matter to you. Not to be rude, but your brain is decidedly made out of concrete.

If you want to be wrong, be my guest. It's not my business if you want to be an idiot.

Here's my definitions:

Bestiality: To get off to animals.

Furry: To get off to animals.

Furry has different connotations depending on the person while bestiality is rather straight-forward human-on-animal sexual interaction.

There we go. Ferverts are what I described. Most other Furries are OK. Anthro art can be good, and not Furverted.

Beastialit... ies(?) enjoy sex with Animals.

Both are caused by severe inability to interact with their fellow humans. Cas closed. Something I'd like to add: That is a horrible misconception.

Furry = Fan of anthropomorphic characters. PERIOD.

There.

Also, Artspots (http://www.artspots.com) is much better, I think. Not only is it clean, but it has quality control. You have to have some sort of skill to be able to post there.

Plus, it's not full of non-anthro spammy crap like FA is.

Title: Re: YAY! I finally found happiness! Post by: Kagom Jack on November 04, 2007, 10:53:31 PM With FA I could take a shit on a piece of paper, draw a face on it and someone out there would like it and not say anything about it.

You don't even have to draw anthro to be able to post there. You can post Captain Hook incest porn, and no one would give a crap.

In fact, it might get some fans.

Title: I'm starting to hate Deviant Art people. Post by: Angel-Meiru on October 30, 2007, 08:54:32 PM I'm sick of all these immature teenage girls and boys comming to Deviant Art and flaming me and my friends. Here's some examples of what people have been saying to me and my friends:

"You suck. Go do us a fucking favor and commit suicide you little fat ass cunt."

"Why do you like XX character or XX movie/game etc.? You suck ass for liking gay ass faggot characters or titles."

"U fuking gay U fuking nigga beetch!"

Come on, where are all the mature, responsible people on Deviant Art? Is every person joining this website are around the age range of 12-17 years of age? What's with all the racial slurs and homophobic comments? I am TRYING to improve my style everyday, but I develop a little slower than some people due to my mental illness. Why can't people respect that? Not every artist in the world is mentally perfect. Deal with it.

And for all you immature teenage girls who flame my pages, I have some advice to give to you. GO HOME AND GROW UP. You know, that's the nice thing about immature little girls, they (usually) grow up into mature women.

Here's some DA people slandering me on Encyclopedia Dramatica (I think it's sad they post my older half assed artwork and not my new and improved artwork):

art critics are like armchair generals. They weren't good enough to make it in the field, so they try and assuage their ego by cutting others down.

EDIT: also, yes, i know, I am being hypocritical. No, i don't give a damn. Normally when i judge someone Else's work, if it's not in a field I'm skilled in, I'll begin with "it's better than anything I could do, but" and go into a critique.

Oooh, ow. Ick. Okay, main problem? Anatomy. Foreshortening problems with the legs, the hand looks broken and awkward, her neck looks strange, and the face shows no expression. Same ol' cliche animu crap. Try to work on expressive faces and the basics before moving towards styles. The whole body seems stiff and unnaturally uptight. Needs serious work.

[DalekVoice]FORESHORTENING ISSUES! FORESHORTENING ISSUES![/DalekVoice] In order for the leg to look natural, the lower leg's knee should be positioned right beneath the top knee. It looks like her leg was snapped out of it's socket and is hanging by a single tendon. Again, Animu issues. You've talked at lenght aboot Picasso, but even he was a hyper-realist before he moved on to abstractionist pieces. Work your fundamentals to the bone, first Ma'am. Then try some styles.

Let me guess, you hate anime? I don't though.

And BTW, I have bipolar, schitzophrenia and asberger's syndrome. I am not mentally retarded.

Anyways, I try to improve my work everyday. If you hate anime, fine, but I don't.

And I'm not pissed off at people who politely point out my flaws, I'm okay with that, but saying "Go kill yourself" or "Go fuck off bitch" does not cut it.

He is correct on this.. Having good solid life/figure drawing skills is extremely important, no matter what your style ends up being.

Might I recommend Vilppu Drawing Manual (Perfect Paperback) (http://www.amazon.com/Vilppu-Drawing-Manual-Glenn-V/dp/189205311X/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-5958015-1051369?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194006769&sr=8-2).. it was the required text for my life drawing class and an excellent book.

The "animu" is the least of the problems your art has. You should take Metroid's advice to heart, as he's absolutely right. Criticism =/= personal attack.

The biggest problem most folk have with people drawing in anime style is that it's USUALLY used as a crutch for folk who don't want to bother with proper anatomy. Work the basics first, then simplify. It'll look much better that way, and will be easier. Hell, I like drawing anime styles sometimes, but I don't rely on it, and I still practice my basics.

... LOL what? Seriously, LOL what. I never even mentioned anything about you having a mental disorder. I do hope these aren't your only defenses against criticism, it will only increase anonymous' chances of achieving their "LULZ." I don't see how any of these mental disorders make it impossible for you to drop Anime styling, or any styling for that matter, and getting down to the basics and fundamentals of Art.

Look at the faces you draw. Can you honestly tell me that any of them convey an actual emotion? Emotion and expression rely on every facet of the face, not just the, to quote Scott Dewitt, "Three magic holes on your face." The only real difference between all of your character's faces is the coloring and hair style. When you drop your mangas and pick up an actual art book or draw from life, you'll have to start working with different facial structures, faces, and actual expressions. A closed eye and extended tongue aren't enough to tell me whether you character is horny as a bunny in heat, or if she's making fun of someone.

I don't hate Anime. One Piece and Bleach are amazing shows, but if you'll look at both you'll see why. Because Eichira Oda and Tite Kubo actually know how to draw, and both escaped the homogeneous, cliched art styles of most Japanese Manga guys. When you work towards imitating a style rather than actually learning how to draw, you'll wind up not doing either very well. Wapanese art almost always is shit, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with Anime as a style. It has to do with most Wapanese not seeing the critical aspect of learning how to draw. You go to an art college and offer them this stuff as part of your portfolio and you'll literally die of embarrassment/anger/stupidity right there.

Listen to my and other's crits, stop drawing Anime exclusively, and start drawing from life. That's the damn troof.
