So on May 16th, 2016, James "AVGN" Rolfe posted a short little video explain why he doesn't plan on watching Fembusters at all. Take a look.

Of course, that would probably would have been the end of it, if it wasn't for the fact that Patton Oswalt found out about it and shared it to all his Hollywood friends... and that's how the fight started.

Almost immediately, EVERYONE started playing the "Let's Shit on Rolfe For Having The Wrong Opinion!" game. Even the New York Times decided to say something about it!

Yes, the New York Times, a highly respected news organization and one that has been around for well over a century... felt it necessary to report (archive) about how one guy on YouTube decided that he wasn't going to watch a movie. Quality reporting there.

Eventually, Patton Oswalt relented, realizing that he couldn't handle the shit he was initially dishing out. But too late, the shitty e-battle he started only grew, allowing people to see which Hollywood "star" is trying to use this situation to remain relevant.

Of course the main reason why Patton Oswalt was so eager to defend the movie was because his wife made a cameo in the film, as you can see below:

Despite the shitstorm, Rolfe delivered a second video citing the debacle of Ghostbusters 3 with a high amount of approval, explaining very clearly why Paul Feig's reboot is going to flop. The SJW salt (including opportunist backstabbing from several TGWTG-aligned folk) likewise made that second video one of the most watched videos of all his catalogue, and almost, ALMOST make him recover some of his dignity.

UPDATE! DATELINE 2023

Patton Oswalt is part of the next Ghostbusters movie, Frozen Empire. What does this mean? Does it mean Sony is trying to stick it to James Rolfe for his nonwatching of a movie they're obviously trying to pretend doesn't exist? That's totally the case, because Sony gives a shit about what some random YouTuber thought seven years ago.
