Iirc this board was made in 2012 or so as a result of massive peasantry and shit taste on the chans. I don't remember what it was specifically but I think it was just after the /vg/ split. Of course the master in it's name is a reference to the pc master race, although exceptional console games and retro games are accepted. The name masterchan was chosen before the pc master race term became cancerous and got itself a reddit board.

It didn't have cp for a long time, it was added later to give it a niche. It was primarilly just a /v/ board. --Duster 20:27, 12 January 2015 (EST)
