Ambrose Bierce was a War of Northern Aggression veteran most notable for writing "The Devil's Dictionary". The Devil's Dictionary is a satirical reference book that criticized multiple topics, which ED draws inspiration from. William Randolph Hearst on the other hand, while not having written any specific works, was one of the first journalists to come to the realization that people love to read about scurrilous shit. He's notable for having inflamed Americans against Spain and being one of the causes of the Spanish–American War.
