Steam friend thread
Valves monopoly of digital pc gaming sales "steam" was working to expand on their community side of steam, which back in 2009 was complete garbage and not even considered and alternative to xfire. Although valves shitty esport games would win it community exclusivity, some retards were unironically using it in 2010 because they didn't know about competing platforms. Among these retards we're lonely, socially retarded and underb& /v/irgins looking for their first friends on /v/. Although there were only several users actually lulz worthy, 5 years of cancerous shitposting across all users have earned SFT infamy across the chans.
The golden age:first /v/ threads
This is the only period that steam friend threads existed without scrutiny, and everybody was posting in them. The only person anybody remembers from this period was bro octopus, the dark lord of sft and the most autistic user the threads had ever seen, but we'll get into that in detail. Eventually gay relationship drama was happening in these threads and the "no gay shit" slogan was coined for the threads, and their instant banning followed shortly.
The early /vg/ period
Although the OPs of SFT where evading bans and you could get in quick 100-200 post threads in on /vg/, people where still posting. This is where the first community formed. Some users from this age are the most classic cases of inane drama, including baxels and setotos relationship
