how to create a sig in 6 steps:

  1. learn basic piping
  2. click on your username on the top right
  3. if youve already created a userpage, you should be staring at that. if not, you should be staring at a new page
    1. dont edit this page yet if you havent already, instead click the url input on your browser and add "/sig" after your name, for example http://encyclopediadramatica.online/User:Disassemblyline/sig
  4. you should be staring at another new page, this is the page you want to use to hold your sig
    1. sigs should at least link back to your username, optional stuff is your talk page, contribs, etc. its a smart idea to only link these three
  5. after youve saved your sig, click preferences and paste this into the "New signature" input: {{SUBST:User:<your username>/sig}}
    1. replace <your username> with your actual username, obviously
    2. dont forget to make sure Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link) is checked
    3. save preferences
  6. there are three ways to sign posts
    1. ~~~ will output your name only, eg: - DL | talk | contribs
    2. ~~~~ will output your name + attach a timestamp after your name, eg: - DL | talk | contribs 23:52, 31 August 2013 (EDT) <--you should always use this on talkpages
    3. ~~~~~ will output a timestamp only, eg: 23:52, 31 August 2013 (EDT) <--use this to sign templates that require a timestamp
