It mentions spam, but not blatant Exhibit A/B/C type articles. Can you add those please? 00:25, 30 July 2011 (CEST)

  • Too subjective. What one person sees as a shit article another could see worth fixing. Going to have to get a consensus or something on the discussion page first before deleting/redirecting. The article exhibits template was originally created as a joke or example, not really to be used as policy. If everyone put the effort into creating that they do into deleting we would be all set. This isn't finished yet anyways, it will be tweaked. --zaiger (talk) 00:43, 30 July 2011 (CEST)
Alright, but while on the topic, it needs to also mention pop-culture related articles (mostly children's cartoons and bands) that don't belong here. We also need a notability policy. 01:59, 30 July 2011 (CEST)
If it is notable, there can be an article. This isn't about turning us into Wikipedia, it is about stopping oper-abuse (or lack of use). --zaiger (talk) 02:40, 30 July 2011 (CEST)

My opinion.

  • This isn't a forum or anything like it. Treating it like a forum will result in problems.
  • "get a consensus". Do we even have an active enough user base for this? Second, "how?"
  • I agree with meepsheep about a notability requirement. But no way in hell should it be like wikipedia's.
  • imho, users are discouraged from creating xTON's
  • You're focusing too much on sysops.

  • You are taking this too seriously.
  • Talk to ANYBODY ELSE about it. I just don't want people deleting articles that they know nothing about out of ignorance.
  • There is no notability. This site is about free speech.
  • I don't know what you mean.
  • This page is about Sysop abuse, who else would you like me to focus on?

--zaiger (talk) 04:19, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

actually, nm TKN 04:20, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Actually, what I meant by focus less on sysops is that there should be a clear definition of what users should/shouldn't do and how sysops should respond. TKN 04:23, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Well the users aren't the ones banning themselves for trying to create content, and moving their own articles to userspace never to be worked on again. Once they start doing that then I will say something to them as well. --zaiger (talk) 04:36, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
  • Am I supossed to "Abuse" or "Not Abuse" privs? I keep getting that confused.oddguy 19:56, 16 February 2013 (EST)

Fat Larry's Band

is it still policy to redirect band articles to Fat Larry's Band? -hipcrime 23:23, 27 September 2012 (EDT)

  • NO WE MUST ALLOW FOR FREE SPEECH AND HAVE ARTICLES ON EVERYTHING TylerRosenow º Ӕ º º 23:29, 27 September 2012 (EDT)

rename this policy page to "ED and you"?

this page could be useful for all contributors to ED, as well as the sysops. but since this is a policy page, im not going to move it myself until there is some input. -hipcrime 18:59, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

all of the stuff refers to what sysops can and can't do. None of this really applies to non-sysops, as they can't perform the actions discussed here.
This colostomy bag was BANNED for their faggotry.
You can help by learning from their mistakes.
Vandalizing their user page with Pain Series attacks never hurts either.

I am not a sysops, but I think some of these could apply to anyone fit to perform such action
  • As an ED Sysop you are required to help new users to become better old users. We have no good users because you all banned them all before they could learn, so now it is your jobs to fix it.
  • As an ED Sysop you are required to fix new articles so that they are suitable quality for prime time. Moving articles to userspace is confusing to new users. As such moved articles are eventually given up on out of frustration, this is why articles that should take less than a day or so to complete are to be left in the main space. User space will be reserved for rewrites and for experienced users to do whatever they want with etc.
AGREE that the page is principally intended for sysops, and shouldn't be renamed. Users who aren't sysops who nonetheless aspire to be good netizens are going to end up reading all the "for sysops only" shit they can, anyway and hopefully practice such things as they can.--Paul Atreides 00:02, 5 September 2013 (EDT)
