how to create a sig in 6 steps:
- learn basic piping
- click on your username on the top right
- if youve already created a userpage, you should be staring at that. if not, you should be staring at a new page
- dont edit this page yet if you havent already, instead click the url input on your browser and add "/sig" after your name, for example http://encyclopediadramatica.se/User:Disassemblyline/sig
- you should be staring at another new page, this is the page you want to use to hold your sig
- sigs should at least link back to your username, optional stuff is your talk page, contribs, etc. its a smart idea to only link these three
- after youve saved your sig, click preferences and paste this into the "New signature" input: {{SUBST:User:<your username>/sig}}
- replace <your username> with your actual username, obviously
- dont forget to make sure Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link) is checked
- save preferences
- there are three ways to sign posts
- ~~~ will output your name only, eg: - DL | talk | contribs
- ~~~~ will output your name + attach a timestamp after your name, eg: - DL | talk | contribs 23:52, 31 August 2013 (EDT) <--you should always use this on talkpages
- ~~~~~ will output a timestamp only, eg: 23:52, 31 August 2013 (EDT) <--use this to sign templates that require a timestamp
