"Why is /jp/ so shitty?"
"The Buttranger"

/jp/, or Otaku General, was made last Thursday by moot during his period. Unhappy with all the Touhoues, visual novels, and non-anime spergin' on /a/, moot brought down the b&hammer so hard that the board split in two. Popular topics on /jp/ include "What is this board for?", "which touhou would you fuck", and "I am so lonely." All other threads will be saged and reported. Seeing as /jp/ is a board for video games, anime, figures, and cultural discussion along with miscellaneous discussion, /jp/ is really just a safe-for-work /b/.

2011

In the late summer of 2011, moot instated a new meido to the board to combat the unceasing shitposts and spam. The board suffered under the tyrannical reign of this new meido, oftentimes being reduced to nothing but 5 visible pages consisting of nothing but touhou and whatever he deemed /jp/-related. It was at this critical moment that a lone anon rose from the smoldering remains of /jp/ to oppose the new power hungry meido.

Granted from above with the power of buttranging, he simply became known among /jp/sies as The Buttranger. He struck at the meido with the buttrange of ten thousand years, overwhelming the meido's tremendous autism and forcing him to retreat. The meido returned only to set aflame the shitposts The Buttranger had tediously planted in the meido's absence and slowly drive back The Buttranger and his fellow shitposters. The meido sat upon his bloodied throne once again, but his victory did not last for long. Night fell and The Buttranger returned - dispensing of the Meido and returning the board to its starved and beaten shitposters. As night ended The Buttranger fell back to recover his strength, only to return the next night. This shift in power became a daily occurrence. Even now The Buttranger fights for the freedom of /jp/, granting them a reprieve each night as he battles the meido in the skies above and withdrawing during the day to recover his strength. His legend continues to this day:

"The anon who became a shitposter. The shitposter who became a buttranger. The Buttranger who defied a Meido."

Modern /jp/

/jp/'s resident mascot.

/jp/ has no real Japan-related content. This enrages Japanophiles who, after looking at the board's name and its rules, believe /jp/ should be about pinku bento boxes. When they realize it's filled with animu, ronery, Visual Novels, Touhou and TYPE-MOON, they proceed to collectively whine about how much the board sucks because no one wants to talk about the glorious country of Nippon. Ironically, anyone who makes a thread about Japan-related content will be flamed and directed to /trv/, /int/, or /lang/.

If you want to fit in, just put "sage" in the email field and type "Reported" in every thread, as often as needed. A fun game is to see how long it takes for others to reply! If you want to make people angry, mistype sage or put sage in the name field instead.

/jp/ Theme Song

Note it's a piece of shit.
