Urusei Yatsura (literally "Those Obnoxious Aliens") is a shitty anime which began with a manga written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi, in fact it may be the very first popular manga to indicate that Japan has always had these weird, out-of-nowhere character archetypes considering the publication of the first volume in 1973. Even the pedophilia and school girl sexualization before the West had much impact upon their culture. We begin the anime with Ataru Moroboshi, a slut... I mean pervert who is at random selection challenged to a game of tag by aliens from the planet Oniboshi, with the condition if he loses the aliens will invade and if he refuses the aliens will invade anyway. He is made to catch the Oni champion of the game of tag Princess Lum, so Ataru relishes the idea of having to catch this beauty. However, his attitude changes when he discovers that Lum can fly. When things start looking desperate for the Earth, Ataru's girlfriend, Shinobu offers to tie the knot if he succeeds, and on the last day, when he finally catches Lum by stealing her bikini top and giving us a shot of the 17-year olds' nude breasts, he declares his intentions to be married. Lum misunderstands this as a proposal and eagerly agrees, since she has become smitten with Ataru. He tries to disengage himself, but Lum is adamantly faithful and demonstrates a willingness to use her natural ability to generate electric shocks to keep her "husband" in line. Later in the series continuity, Lum and some of her alien friends become more-or-less regular residents of Tomobiki and interact with the natives, who are interesting in their own right.

Characters

The characters are whiny, non-intellectual and stereotypical from this infuriating mind-boggling series. It's directed at 13 year old boys and 16 year old girls who are said to laugh at it, we intelligent adult-minded however know it's unfunny.

Ataru Moroboshi

Annoying perverted fifteen year old with two girlfriends who are claw-to-nail for his unfaithful infuriating penis, did we mention he's annoying?

Princess Lum

A bikini-clad alien with horns and superpowers, every fan boy loves her.
