ALYS

ALYS was planned to be VoxWave's first VOCALOID, as well as the first French language-capable VOCALOID. She would have a French and a Japanese voicebank once a crowdfunding campaign has started. However, on July 12, 2014, it was announced the VOCALOID project was dropped and instead ALYS will go to the CeVIO Creative Studio engine.

Drama ensued after releasing ALYS' first demo because everyone wanted to know what vocal synth she was running on. At first, Voxwave declined to reveal she was running on UTAU because it's such a primitive piece of shit.

As I have been using for several years various free solutions, I chose to use UTAU — after comparing it to other software such as Cadencii, NiaoNiao or NameWave.Indeed, today UTAU is to me the most stable free interface, although optimized for the Japanese and not for the French. That is why in this context, ALYS' vocal library is still very hard to use, and it is also why we choose not to publish its prototypes.

This interface also has the advantage of allowing to choose one's own synthesis engine (or "resampler", as designated by UTAU users). This way we could early in the project use the widest possible set of freely available technology. This is also why ALYS’ timbre has changed between "Dans mon Monde" and "Avenir": the engine has been updated after the publication of the first song.

Then the drama with Voxwave came because they stole Shindehai's rights on the songs but in reality Shindehai can't fucking read contracts.

On December 11th, it was announced that ALYS would be released on March 10 under the Alter/Ego engine for now. The quality is utter shit in comparison to her UTAU version. Still sold more copies than Ruby though.

On June 30, Voxwave introduced LEORA, ALYS' counterpart, catering to the creepy nerds with yuri fap material.

Buttmad UTAU fans will keep doing shitty edits of this article because they can't accept that ALYS is more popular than their singing self-insert.
