The soundtrack deserves mentioning
While I mostly agree with the tightening of the page, I personally feel that removing the soundtrack section was a bad idea. The Mission soundtrack literally is considered the greatest film soundtrack of all time, as revealed by a 2012 composer poll - http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/the-mission-tops-variety-composers-poll-of-the-all-time-greatest-film-scores So while I personally think the OST section could be cut down from its original version, removing it completely is ommitting a key detail about the film. I heard the OST years before I saw the film. Just hearing the opening of "Gabriel's Oboe" makes some people tear up, years after seeing the movie. I just wanted to clarify that line wasn't fanboism speaking. IMO, drawing attention to how Hollywood's elite know of the Mission even if the average American has never seen it also helps cement the underlying question of how much Avatar stole from the Mission. Besides, you know, the plot about a killer teaming up with a pacifist who started a Mission/School for the natives but was then told to move on by their sponsors.--Ambient Malice 19:39, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- From what I've been taught, compliments aren't taken too kindly in this site. But if you want to mention how much Avatar ripped this series off, write that in the Avatar article. -Gray 20:31, 18 February 2013 (EST)
Good point. If people want nitty gritty details about the subject, they can see the other wiki. And unless there is some aspect of the music's fandom which is lulzy, it doesn't really belong on ED. I'm still working on anime pages right now, but I'm thinking of streamlining the Halo page in the near future. So I'll look at improving the Avatar page at some point, too.--Ambient Malice 20:49, 18 February 2013 (EST)
Mario Bros
The director of the Mission later contributed to the Mario Bros movie in some way. There have been rumours he was the ghost director, not just the producer: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/469105/10_films_that_were_rumoured_to_be_ghostdirected.html This should probably be weaved into the page somehow. Especially because Mario Bros has scarred the nerd psyche.--Ambient Malice 19:39, 18 February 2013 (EST)
