I was going to append a section detailing the no small irony regarding the coining of this epithet, but I've lost heart. It isn't much of a derogatory epithet, as it were, because the word was created by oppressed yet majestic chattel negroes in reference to the obviously inferior white Americans who took the lash to their ebony gods. Ultimately, I cannot hope to compete with the impeccable linguistic might of this article as it stands.
